Which car is more fun/different? GT500 or e92 m3

2010 Mustang gt500 or the e92 m3? Which car do you think is more fun and different then most other cars on the road that you won't get bored of.

Well, they really are very different. Performance wise, the Mustang may be more fun on a quarter mile/drag strip than the ///M but on a road course or curvy roads, I would say the ///M takes it hands-down. I say the Mustang may be more fun simply because its less refined nature may allow for a more exhilarating feeling upon launches (lots of noise, rumble and shake).

Both cars are legendary in their own right but they appeal to polar opposite customers. I personally would not buy a Mustang.

In the quality department, I would say that the M3 has a better fit and finish with higher quality materials.

Looks are subjective so it depends on your taste.

Why not a C7 Vette? At least you'll get handling and straight line performance superior to that of the Mustang.

Because, there is no such thing as a C7 Corvette. The current model is the 6th-generation (C6).

I think the GT500 is soooo HAWT!! Especially after seeing in the move "I Am Legend". That car looks amazing.

At the end, the M3 is more of my type of vehicle because I think its personality is much more athletic compared to the GT500.

If you like brute thrust and like to powerslide and drift, GT500 is the car for you. At the end of the day, the flimsy and out-dated chassis, bad weight distribution, lack-luster steering precision and underdeveloped suspension, that is where it ends.

If you like to run around the race track as fast as you can in car that has a more capable chassis, suspension and steering than what the engine could challenge it with while feeling the high adrenaline rush pulling very high g forces in high speed turns while being in total control, the M3 is the car for you.

Did I mention the comfort and luxury of the M3???

I was looking at the GT500 but the things that turned me off; Live axle rear suspension, even though they say it is much improved but I still think they are only good for smooth tracks. The weight is about 3800-3900 lbs which is significantly heavier than the normal Mustang and most of that weight is in the front. It is not a M3 for sure, which one is more fun? On the street (ie. straight line) the GT500 would be more fun, on the track, the M3 would run circles around the GT500 and the driver will have much more fun doing it due to the M3's 'Ring tuned suspension and balanced chassis. In the end, it comes down to what the driver wants. Both are awesome cars in their own rights.

So you've extensively driven the new 2010 GT500 right? You would also have pictures to show us of you at a track right? Or are you just a magazine reader? Pulley and tune on each car, I don't care how slow the GT500 corners. It will beat the majority of so called capable chassis cars around a track.

I had a 2003 WRX and was looking for a new car. I test drove the GT500 and was not impressed. I thought it was a beautiful car and the roar of the V8 was pretty darn awesome. However, I pulled some hard corners (enough to make the salesman just about shat himself ) and it just didn't feel right. I personally thought they should have gone with independent suspension to go with that awesome engine. I guess the best way to describe it would be to say that Ford took Marissa Miller's face and planted it on Margret Cho's body. I ended up keeping my Subaru until... I found myself in Germany one day so decided test drive the M3. I thought driving down the Autobahn was cool, but that was nothing compared to taking that sucker to the back roads of Germany on M Drive. Almost no roll on the hardest corners and I did not feel that the car was underpowered on the straight aways either. Needless to say I ordered a almost fully loaded 2009 E92 (minus cold weather since I'm in cali/ moon roof since I prefer the carbon fiber top/ and the awesome dual clutch since I'm still more of a traditionalist), and I've been enjoying the treacherous roads of Southern Cali for about a year now.

So after all of that jargon, I guess my conclusion is this. Test Drive both but when you do, push that sucker to the best of your driving abilities. The sales guy wouldn't want to lose the sale by upsetting you so they probaby won't say anything. And if it's "fun" you want, you won't know which one will be more fun for you driving down local roads at 35mph. Just watch out for cops and good luck to you. Let us know which one you choose.

I agree! People just like to regurgitate what they read. If the car is American, it must suck. It is comical.

I'd get the Vette too, but Vette only has 2 seats and wasn't mentioned in the OP.
For my tastes, I would take the M3. That said, the GT500 is still a serious machine and should not be mocked. I just feel alittle too old for it. I need more refinement.

There's a lot of ignorance here, as is usual regarding American car capabilities in Euro-car forums. The Mustang shouldn't be dismissed on the track. In the Grand Sport Class in the Koni Challenge Series, the Ford Mustang and M3 are neck and neck in the Grand Sport class point standings. Forget the GT500, this is a regular Mustang GT, which is pretty even competition for the M3 on the track.

The cars are stock, with only safety modifications allowed. The series is aired on Speed TV.
