My M3 is garaged on snowy or slushy days. The last few years there have only been about 10 days a season where the roads were snow, slush or salt covered. I have a '09 Acadia or a '96 AWD Subaru to chose from.

I highly recommend a used AWD Subaru in lieu of wheels/snow tires. You can pick up a reliable one for well under $4k (snows plus wheels will be at least $2k). Plus it doubles as a dog hauler, sitting at the airport parking lot car, jet ski tow vehicle, or any kind of dirty work you don't want to use the M3 for. Mine will run 80 mph all day on the highway (although it takes a while to get there) and actually has neutral handling in corners. I bought some WRX 16" wheels off of ebay and they made it drive much nicer. Just my $.02

My car's first winter was in a place where we scoff at Buffalo, NY weather. A set of Michelin PA2s in 245/40-18 on four OEM 18 fronts did the job quite fine. This was a typical morning before the snow got deep.

The picture below was taken after driving across a field and over hill off-road to cut the Christmas tree. These cars can take it.

I'm not a clean freak regarding my car, but that makes me want to cry. I pray there was at least a tarp wrapped around the tree trunk.

That's not how I treat my M3, but to each their own.

Boo hoo. Sorry to upset you. It's an F'in car for Crissakes. It's not a Picasso. It's a mass produced automobile from a large corporation. It has four doors so you can easily get snotty nosed kids into the back to spill juice boxes.

I have a cargo mat in the trunk and the end of the tree was wrapped in a rag. I have extended Bamboo leather that gets cleaned and conditioned regularly since coffee and redbull get spilled in there.

I've gone the two car route in the past and decided it's just way more practical to use one car in all conditions. Besides, I got this car because I liked it. I want to drive it. I've now put 31k miles on it in eleven months.

Just hit 15k on all stock tires, have about 3k left in them. PS2's are worth every penny.

Love that tree pic, hilarious. Great to see somebody else actually using the car year round. Haven't put a tree in the trunk yet (joke in there somewhere...) but I love taking my car up to the mountains here to ski and see the look on people's faces.

I've just reported R. Joe to the authorities for car abuse. They will take the car away very soon, put under foster care, and Joe has to report himself as car abuser any time he moves and cannot get closer than 20 miles to any BMW dealership.

+1 RJ great pics. I have some funny pics of my old E36 M3 being used as a 16 foot 2x4 hauler. Some call it blasphmey but once I bought my house the M3 took a serious back seat to it and "its" needs.

As far as tires go my OEM PS2 rears lasted 23k mi. They were had way too many freeway miles and no track events. I decided to officially "kill" them 2 weeks back at the track. The fronts still have some time before getting into the wear bars. All around they are lasting longer than I expected but I am driving less hard than I have in the past as well.

I'll add that to the list of elementary schools, ex's and federal judges I'm supposed to stay away from.

11K. Bald on the outside. Full season of autox, mountain driving, and general tire abuse.

I was shocked they went this long.

I didn't load my car with a xmas tree, but drove it in 2'' of snow with PS2's.. and neglected washing it for a week after that....

I religiously wash the car after each track day (or every second week). And that includes clay, wax, full interior leather treatment, cleaning the engine, etc.
I do that with my two other cars too.

I've got about 125xx on them with one track day. I hope to get at least a couple thousand more miles, but we'll see.....

Been riding my bike a lot lately, so my guess is I'll get new tires for that first. Much cheaper....
