No, the S65 and S85 share nothing with the F1 engines, other than the number of cylinders. BMW just wanted a high revving 500hp M5 and 400hp M3 and a V10 and V8 were the best solutions.

Yeah man, as Mkoesel said, can't compare a 2.4L 90º V8 revving to 19K rpm and only lasting a few races to a production engine. Some technologies trickle down to production engines, but that's about it. Good day. |

True - only the S65 shares cylinder count with the current motor, but I was talking about the S85 compared to the previous V10 F1 motor that bigjae had mentioned. BMW should take that F1 V8, cut the max RPM in half, put in lower compression pistons, put on a couple turbo chargers and tune it to about 450hp. Perfect F3x M3 engine. It's only 2.4L - its gotta be green, right? Forget the silly EfficientDynamics and all that whatnot. |
