Question - Can a tpm be added after the tires are mounted?

I want to know because I plan to buy aftermarket wheels (and tires) and typically venders mount / balance for free. It doesn't make sense to buy these if I will have to remove the tires from the wheels to add the tpm's.

You do have to unmount the tires or deflate the tires for TPMS to be installed...

Is it deflate or unmount? Deflating is no big deal and free. Unmounting is $100+ (as you know).

You'll need to deflate and debead the tire. A competent shop will have machine that can force the bead down and allow space for the technician to install the TPMS. The wheels will have to be rebalanced after installation.

Depends on the shop you go to. Good ones can just deflate and do the install. But rebalance of the wheels are still required. Hope this help. =)

You could always just carry them around in your pocket and see if they work . . . .

I'm curious; are you saying that you have a tire shop in your area that will unmount, plus mount and balance four wheels/tires for less than $100 if you havn't bought the tires or wheels from them?

Yes disruptv. It fits most aftermarket brands of wheel. Please double check with your aftermarket wheel brand to be safe =)
