The current intakes seems to run $100-200+/hp gained, which doesn't seem worth it to me.

Lack of adequate brake cooling and the PS fluid overheat are the two main Achilles corner of the M3 on track.

If I was designing an intake with CF being my specialty, I'd fabricate new CF velocity stacks and showcase them with a clear top cover. The red outline from the attached drawing is a nice detail so a red silicone seal would finish it off nicely.

So how many of you would be interested in a full induction system modeled after the OEM, but with improvements such as the widening of the intake paths, with a high quality filter, plenum expansion, grille scoops, made out of 100% Formula 1 grade Carbon Fiber.

HP Gains would obviously come from testing, and would be hard to say at the moment. But it is a proven fact that scoops, increase of the plenum volume, and wider intakes paths will increase power significantly.

Furthermore, considering the fact that GruppeM charges around $2500-$2900 for their intake, which lacks sealing, is made with an inferior process used on Fiberglass and not Carbon Fiber (end material is of lesser grade), and does not touch the plenum or expand the intake ducts, how much would you price ours, given that the gains are where they are supposed to be? How many of you can afford the prices that will be suggested by fellow members?

Well do keep in mind our system would be more complete and of real carbon fiber. We think the price of the whole system would be significantly cheaper than the Gruppe M, being all around better.

With our system it wouldn't be so much about the cost, then the availability. Each of these will be numbered, they will come with a certificate of authenticity, and only a very LIMITED amount will be produced per year.

We know that as enthusiasts, there is nothing cooler then knowing you have an EXCELLENT product that virtually no one else does.

If you make a quality product that produces REAL power then plenty of enthusiasts will be interested. So if cheaper then Gruppe M, then how much? Just a ball park with suffice. I ask this b/c in my opinion Gruppe M is pointless when you consider the power gained to price ratio.--JC

It would be hard to say. But something made out of Formula 1 grade Carbon Fiber, with so many components...I can say it would be above $1000

R&D -

My advice is to go ahead and design it, prototype it, dyno it, get a few people on the board to beta test it, and then if it makes power you shouldn't have problems selling it. I think you would need to add 10-15 hp to make it worthwhile and I am not sure that is possible with the intake since it is probably 98% all ready there. Good luck and keep us updated.

If it produces a good amount of power along with exhaust and tune, then for sure I'd be interested for this amount as I'm sure many here would be.

EDIT: What AMPowerJ said^^

Intake: I could be interesed, but not for $1000, which could in no way buy "Formula-1" quality CF unless you have a $1,000,000+ 7000psi oven/vacuum chamber that you got for free and special resins that turn single layer CF into something stronger/lighter than most other 2-layer CF.
Heat shield between PS box and header: YES!
Brake ducts for front brakes: YES!
If nothing comes to market for the latter two, they will become my winter projects for my E92 M3
