Looking to get a new floor jack

Any recommendations on what works well with the M3?

Also, does anyone have an experience (positive or negative) with the following adapter:
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-M3-S65_4.0L/ES251251/

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the ECS adapter is fantastic! I highly recommend it. The Schwaben aluminum floor jack (also sold through ECS Tuning), is a high-quality floor jack. I love mine, but it is pricey. Alot of the members here really like the craftsman floor jack and it is about 1/2 the price. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback! The adapter definitely looks like a winner.

Harbor Freight makes a good low profile jack, less than $150 and works great.

There's a coupon in this month's Automobile mag for a floor jack at Harbor Freight for $60. Its low profile, you twist the handle to release, and works fine.

I have 2 jacks. And having 2 makes putting the car on jack stands x10 easier. If you are lowered, you absolutely need 2.

There's a guy on the E90 side that sells an adaptor that's solid aluminum. He had a machine shop make one for him and people have been buying from him ever since. I think it's more than the EAS one, but it's a nice SOLID piece of metal.

I hate to say this, and your experience may be different, but I've had two of the Harbor Freight, low-profile, aluminum floor jacks, and both failed within months. In both cases the hydraulic cylinders failed.

You almost always get what you pay for.

I know a few guys locally who've had the same problem. They said they could literally see the car slowly falling when the cylinder failed while they were under the car!

If you're going to be under your car, you should probably be using jack stands... Either way, failing cylinders are certainly not good.

Just put that adapter money towards a Craftsman 2-ton racing aluminum jack, which has a wide, round, rubber-lined tray that easily swallows the jack pad, so zero damage. I just splurged on one, on sale for $180. If you deduct the $30 from the adapter, it'd really cost you $150 . Looks awesome, super light, and the 2-ton model lifts to 18-1/2", and lifts from 3-1/4". Don't get the little one; it's almost useless for a larger car, and only lifts to 14". Hope this helps gang.

Oh, Hell no - Is this made by the same folks as the pocket fisherman???

I'm not trusting this contraption - Looks like he's using his electric drill to raise the car -

Yup. As odd as it looks, it works just fine. Installed a new set of brakes today.

Think of it this way - all it takes for a hydraulic lift to collapse on you is a little, tiny leak. This thing takes thousands of turns of a shaft.
