M3 Insurance
Fellas - For budgeting purposes I am wondering (ballpark) what it is going to cost to insure a brand new M3 in Seattle. I'll be living in Belltown and have a perfect driving record.

I got a quote from GEICO for an increase of $800 every 6 months. Clean record here, too. The quote was for dropping my GTI to an occasional driver, and adding the M3 as my primary car.
Belltown may be more expensive, though. They break it down by zip code. Our auto rates went down when we left Capitol Hill. |

Are you 25 yet? That might explain it.

Me too. The only thing I can think of is the little variables like neighborhood, lapses in insurance coverage, or other drivers on the car. I hope when I finally get mine, GEICO doesn't give me anything near your quote! I got my quote when the 08's weren't in the system yet. An underwriter had to get info on the engine, body style, and cost of the car. Speaking of body style, were you looking at the coupe or the sedan? That could be the difference. ![]() |

I posted this in another thread, but just as a reference point I have added it here as well. I am paying $337.08 for six months with Geico including the $13.60 for rental reimbursement. I have 100/300/50 coverage and $1,000 deductables for both comprehensive and collision. I am 48 with a sparkling clean driving record.
Looking at my policy just now, I see that I'm paying $4.10 for emergency road service that I don't need on the M3 either. Grrrrrrrr! |

Total policy for 3 cars would be somewhere around $2000/6 months. Actual increase for the M3 was $800/6 months. I tried accessing the saved quote to get you the actual breakdown, but I guess they kick them out of the system after a while.

Careful on the Auto Insurance Quotes on the M3 Coupe versus Sedan.
M3 Sedan quotes seem to be really low, and the M3 Coupe rates are very high. The only explanation is the model is new and the insurance company websites are not up to date yet. Many only list a M3 Coupe or Convertible and don't even show a M3 Sedan. Over 30 years old and Single Male gets the better rate. If you are 25-30 years old your rate will drop when you hit 30. Collision Coverage on the M3 is the highest cost component. Cheers, |

Just got my E92 M3. We placed the car under my dad for insurance, but why Metlife gave us a price for $3000 a year? That sounds like a crazy number to me. My dad has a CLEAN record.

I checked the 09 E92 for myself through Progressive just to see what it would cost and remember being quoted between $1400-1700/yr depending on deductible/etc (don't remember exact breakdowns). 28, outside of Portland.

Age, Zip code have a role in the price. I've also been told credit rating has an impact too.
I'm in my 30s, spotless driving record and very high credit score. I pay $1100 a year though pemco 250/500/250 $250 de. |

All these things are spot-on. What Progressive quoted for me I think is fairly low because I don't commute very far to work (about a mile)and I also have a very high credit score. No previous accidents obviously helps as well.
