Is Cigarette Lighter Switched or Constant Power?

I've replaced my ashtray/cigarette lighter with the sunglass tray, leaving the wires that went to the cigarette lighter disconnected. If this is a switched power lead, it will be a perfect place to wire in a built-in radar detector.

Can anyone that still has the cigarette lighter check this?

Push the start button twice and power will be activated to everything but the car will not start.

It is a multi-mode toggle switch if you will.

1 press - Nav/radio power
2 press - All systems power
3 press - Back to just Nav/radio power
4 press - Everything off

Press and hold starts the car obviously.

Press and hold turns the car off and power to all systems or press twice to do the same thing when the car is running.

Really? I just have to touch my button with the clutch depressed and engine starts. Or are you talking about starting the engine without the clutch depressed? That'd be GREAT!!! But doubt it.

By the way, you can also start the engine if you depress the clutch pedal right after touching the button to turn on 'radio' or full' power. I do that since my remote sometimes acts up. Take care.

Yeah you don't really have to hold it if you have the clutch depressed.
