I think you should still be able to get $500 above dealer's invoice. In my mind, they have much more room to negotiate with a US delivery, so don't settle.

I've been calling all over the place in So Cal. I even called two places in SF. Also, try Dave at BMWsOnline.com

Good luck!

I'm in the market now and have been negotiating with a few dealers. Any tips on how to get a price below invoice?

Be prepared to walk away! And it wouldn't hurt if you told them that you had a few friends that might want a new car at some stage...

Prepare yourself on knowing exactly how you want your M3 equipped. Then, do plenty of research on what the invoice is and how much the total is with ttl & gg tax. Get that total and try to shoot for $500-1000 below invoice and be STRICT! I called one of my dealership's and told them that if they can do "this" price, then I'll be there RIGHT NOW to put a deposit down. If they ask you to come to the dealership and negotiate, then go for it. If they don't move for you on the price that you are expecting, then ask them if they can do your "below invoice" price and don't forget to continue to be STRICT. If not, take their absolute best offer and see how close the price is to what you're aiming for. If it's not close enough, let them know that and let them know how much you want it for. If they still don't do anything positive for you, shop elsewhere. Make your local dealerships compete against one another.

Thanks everyone for the tips!

After speaking with a few dealers, I decided that I would special order a specific build. Does anyone have any negative experiences with ordering their car? I am worried about not being able to see and test drive the car before I buy it. My concerns vary from scratches, dents, windows not working properly, engine issues, the car being a lemon, etc.

Do I negotiate below invoice the same way as if the car was on the lot?

Your car is no more or less likely to have any of those issues being special ordered. Perhaps less likely on dings and scratches because the car won't be test driven, ever.

Otherwise, nothing is different.
