10W-60 at Vogelweh

The Auto Parts Store at Vogelweh AFB has Castrol 10W-60 for $15 a liter. Ramstein was not stocking it when I checked this week.

AAFES will special order it in if requested. Vilseck actually now "stocks" this oil now, but can usually get it in a few days with advanced notice if they are out. Just an FYI.

I'm going to ask the PX at Chievres to see if they can order it for me.

FYI: we have a forum for OCONUS US-spec cars (US Expatriates) that would be a good place to post these questions. We should soon be turning that forum into a regular place for M-Flight news as well for folks in Europe with M-cars.

I did a customer comment via the AAFES website and got an e-mail from the general manager. If all else fails, you can go to the overall local AAFES manager if car care is not immediately helpful.

I will have to check out the sub-forum as well. I am currently in the states on leave though, and will be back right after the fourth of July...going through M withdrawal......

I know this is an old thread but Bavarian Autosport has Lubro Moly 10W-60 and ships to APOs. Two 5-liter jugs with shipping is $108.65. If I can't find the M1 (my personal favorite) locally I'm going to give these guys a try.

They have the Castrol for $11.95/qt as well.

That's fine but we're all in Germany, not Canada.

Damn, I gotta get up to Vilseck! I'm gonna have my 1200 mile service in a couple of weeks. How far is it from Ramstein? I had actually planned on (bavauto) ordering from the States but $30 in shipping is kinda rough.

Vilseck is about 3.5 hours from Ramstein....a long way for me to drive for Chilis when I head that way.

Check out Tischer BMW for the oil if you are going to go the shipping route. As I recall, they are even cheaper that "R-AAFES", even with shipping charges.

Really? Thanks for the heads up. Worst case, Mainz-Kastel is only an hour and a half away.

Tisher won't ship it here. I asked a while back.

It's hard to beleive Ramstein or Vogelweh don't stock the oil -

Really??? When I was on their site last night they had an APO/FPO shipping option.

I'll check with Hans (M-Flight lead) and see what's up. I know he said the KMCC auto section managers squirrel some away for members.

With that M3, you can do it in about an hour or less. It takes me in my wife's X3 1hr to get to Ramstein from Wiesbaden. Oops, this was meant for your post above about Mainz-Kastel.

I shot Evan@tisher a PM a couple months ago & was told they do ship to APO's, but won't ship OIL to APO's.

Their loss I guess.

I just got an email from Patrick at Bavauto and they have no problems shipping the Castrol TWS 10W-60 to APOs and he aslo says they do so quite regularly. Shipping for 10 liters and the filter was $30.45. The oil is $11.95/liter and the filter is $17.95 for a grand total shipped of $167.90.

I'm going to check the KMCC tomorrow but if they're out I'm going to place my order tomorrow since I only have about 300 miles to go before I need my 1200 mile service.

Last I checked with KMCC in Nov, the auto parts manager said they no longer carried 10W-60 since it's not a regular AAFES shelf item. However, he did say that a customer could put in a special request (he mentioned there was a minimum order amount), after which AAFES would send out a price quote request from a vendor. No guarantee that the price would be the same as when he used to stock it at Vogelweh Auto Parts Store (which was closed and moved into the KMCC).

I ordered mine through BavAuto (only source I found that ships to APO), and even with shipping it was cheaper than when I bought my first 9 qts from Vogelweh (it was almost $17/qt when they carried it).

Look like my number was off by about $90. You need 3 bottles of the diff fluid not one.
