Remus Sport

Just had a set of Remus Sport mufflers installed. Best 1500 (or whatever is was) spent. The volume is just a bit louder, but delivers a nicer sound. Low end mild drone is actually nice, as the stock was too quiet. Low to mid is more aggressive. Mid and upper range has a little more bite. No low end torque loss, definite psychological increase in wheel hp.

The appearance is probably the greatest visual improvement available for this car. The stock muffler is easily the worst design detail of the E9x. The individual units disappear completely, and the tips look great. Perfectly proportioned but not showy. Is showy a word? It is now.

Video/audio doesn't convey the sound. I spent an inordinate amount of time going through the you tubes of stock vs Remus. The human ear and its infinite preferences are the best judge of sound quality.

In my opinion, Remus is the best looking muffler by far. Understated yet muscular .

I also have the Remus sport muffler. Not so loud to annoy the neighbors, but sounds much more aggressive than stock. The appearance is 100 fold greater than stock, and alone is worth the cost.

Those pictures you posted don't do it any justice. The angle, the size, thickness, shape of the tips makes it one of the best looking exhausts period.

Here are some of the shots I have of when it was on my car. You can tell they did their homework when the fit the exhaust, painted section to hide it, tips, etc.

Why didn't you choose the REMUS RACE?

Noise probably; some like to keep their cars civil (guilty as charged ).

One question: why I keep reading adding an 'X' pipe will make your exhaust louder when the stock exhaust already has an 'X' pipe??? It might not be the best, but I just don't see any sound difference without removing the secondary cats, mid mufflers, or something else. Am I missing something?

And second question: Do the Remus Sport requires any cutting or welding? Don't want to do that. Thx.

Yes, it will require the OEM exhaust to be cut off. However our system attaches with clamps. You can put back the OEM exhaust on using clamps as well.

From the looks of the exhaust the REMUS SPORT&RACE looks pretty much the same.

I wonder what is the real difference between the two.

but I agree a quite is also nice to have sometimes. As long as all of the power is there.

Hmmm, good question. Maybe RemusShop will chime in and elaborate on the real differences between the two.

Sport is fairly quiet, Race is loud. Race has less back pressure than Sport, sport has less back pressure than OEM. They both look the same and weigh about the same.

Thanks for the update!!

knew about the back pressure , but not about the sound.

its funny how things weigh in the same but have different functions.

Cutting is Not Good IMO

I'm really sorry but after having experience with custom exhaust on my previous 550 and multiple Dyno's showing just how much torque and power loss there was with "cutting" of the BMW stock design, I don't see how Remus exhaust isn't losing power with cutting?

I love the sound of REMUS-don't get me wrong, but please explain to me how there won't be power/torque loss when you cut BMW pipes?

I'd love to be convinced I'm wrong. Also is there Sport exhaust different at all from the RPI Axle back sound? The cost is about similar and they don't cut jack shite.

Let me know ASAP.
