M3 - 2008 E92 JBM build thread

So I recently sold my built 2011 STI. While the STI was no slouch (380AWHP) I wanted something a little more refined. I previously have had two E46 M3s and both of them served me well, but I had to get rid of them both for financial reasons.
The STI Sold and is sitting in my garage waiting for the transport company to pick it up and take it to Alaska.
I found this particular M3 on ebay of all places and started talking to the owner about it. It has several modifications on it listed below.

Items on the car when picked up
TSW Jerez wheels
Carbon fiber front lip
Carbon fiber exhaust surround
Carbon fiber lip spoiler
VF Supercharger
Innovate A/F and boost gauges (installed poorly)
Unknown exhaust. I'll get under the car and try to figure out what it is.
Edit to add - BMW M Performance steering wheel

I flew up to State College PA Friday morning, met the owner, exchanged ownership and made my way back down south.

Here it is at the West Virginia welcome center.

I stayed in Fayetteville, WV at a bed and breakfast, then made my way home the next morning.

Went through a tunnel at the west virginia / virginia line and the sounds that came out of that car were eargasmic!

Anyway, the car is home now and I already have a list of things that need to be done, so let the modding begin!

Items added
Macht Schnell - Ashtray Gauge Panel
LeatherZ alcantera shift boot
ZHP knob

Thanks for looking!
More to be added soon!

Congrats. Wouldn't be a bad idea to send an oil sample over to Blackstone for analysis.

Congrats on the new ride! I also came from a decently modded STi (2010 400AWHP), as well as an E46, and a 335i. So I like your car car background . Great looking ///M!

Congrats! Funny that you got rid of an STI to get into an M3. I had a deposit down on a new '15 STI Launch Edition, which was damaged coming off the truck upon delivery at the dealer, so I passed on it and got my M3…it was on the list of "must haves" anyways

By the way, if you decide to sell the orange bumper reflectors, I'll take them!

I will probably go with some Swift springs if anything. Thanks for the offer though!

I will be ordering some painted corners for the car, so if you want them, I can let you know when I get the painted ones.

I think I remember seeing that car on eBay when I was looking for mine. I remember it being low-mile & having a blower on it?

MUCH more refined than the Rally cars & E46s, as well--you'll enjoy it.

Congrats!

Just ordered a shift knob and Alcantera shift boot from LeatherZ.

I've been reading and there are a lot of people that dislike any short shifter for this car.
Is that the general consensus? I feel like I am shifting a dump truck tranny when driving this car. Some of the reviews said to just get the ZHP shift knob and that helps a lot.
Since I was planning on doing that anyway, I will see how it is before doing anything else.

Nice car. I was looking at that exact car on the Bay b/f I bought mine. I was a little concerned about it having the S/C to be honest. I spent a lot of time on my former Kenny Bell S/C'd Saleen trying to work the bugs out, so I decided against the possibility of doing that again. Hopefully you won't have those kinds of issues (i.e. in search/repair of the next weakest link). I'll be watching to see how it turns out for ya. Good luck...beautiful car...

I was actually specifically looking for a car with a supercharger already, so this one was perfect.

No issues as of yet. I plan on taking it to TopSpeed to get a tune specifically for the car. not a fan of the off the shelf tunes.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. I'll get some up soon.
Just wanted to post up some progress on the car.

Things installed since I posted last.

Oil and filter change.
Blackstone sample waiting to be mailed off
LeatherZ Alcantera shift boot
ZHP shift knob
Macht Schnell - Ashtray Gauge Panel
Bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen sensor. (went for Emissions and it showed a code. SES light wasn't even on)
I purchased some matte black kidney grills, but they didn't look right on the car. Keeping the chrome on it for now. I think they go well with the wheels.

My tint guy has had some things come up, so I'm just waiting on him at this point.

That's about it. The car is dirty from being in the garage and not being driven. I plan on going to cars and coffee Saturday, so I'll be getting some pictures from that as well.
