I test drove the BLK M3 at Autobahn, however the lease rates are really bad on M3's right now so decided to pass and assumed lease on a 08 M3 E90.

I change my cars every 12 to 14 months, so leasing works well for me. I dont loose much as I have someone assume my lease. I also try and take advantage of the sales tax credits that BMWFS offers only on new leases for TX residents, unlike purchasing where I loose the sales tax when I sell the car and take the depriciation hit. I took a beating on my 2005 545i which I purchased new, lost over 12k when I sold the car after 15 months with only 12k miles on it.
On a different note, how long do the rear tires last on the M3? I am assuming around 8 to 9k miles. On my 550i they only lasted about 9k miles. Last edited by AP555; 09-29-2009 at 01:46 PM. Reason: update |

My guess is you would be pretty close to the same when you trade/sell the car.

Thanks Buschy, I did run the numbers, just as an example: my last car a 2008 550i MSRP 72290 (ED price $62390) after only 14 months and 13k miles was worth $46900 private party price. If I had purchased it I would be upsidedown and would have to come up with a lot of cash to get a new car. Since my car was leased and I got sales tax credits + a high residual and a great MF my payments were only 749/ mo with zero down so I was able to have someone assume my lease without loosing any money (negative equity). If I had financed the car my payments would be around $1350 + sales tax and my payoff would be almost 59k. I know people dont like to lease but it has worked well for me. I also dont put too many miles and dont do any mods.
The trick is to find the best possible deal so you can easily get out. |
