Finally decided to get an e92

Hey All,

I have been reading this board for a long time and have finally decided to make my first post. I had a SG e46 and I just traded that in for an 09 SSII e92. I know this thread may be "useless" without pictures, but I need to charge my camera. I had originally wanted SG or Black but SSII definitely grew on me when I saw it in person.

Anyway, it's great to be here! It would be great to know some other south florida m3'ers as well

Thanks for the welcome guys! Yeah, seeing the car on the computer vs. in person made a difference for me. I hadn't seen any SSII's on the road until I actually saw the car in person at the dealership. Although I did like AW, Black (either one), and especially Space Gray, SSII looked great when I saw it and it had all the options that I wanted (pretty much everything except Cold Weather Package) + the black leather interior.

I've only had the car for 1 day and have already had a bunch of people pointing at the car and/or trying to race.. haha

it's been awesome so far

Yeah you are right about the never looks dirty part. That's part of the reason I loved the Silver Gray on my previous car. I could go a couple weeks before I was forced into washing it.

Thanks a lot! I was thinking about waiting for the 2010's but I was thinking about upgrading too much to wait that long

Nice! So I am not alone with SSII and black on this forum.
I took the car out for a ride in the city and the highway after work just now and it was really fun. Can't wait until the break in period is done!
I still have a lot more to read in the owner's manual...it seems a lot bigger than the e46 manual

Thanks Valeram!
Yeah, it just seemed like very few people on this forum actually got SSII.
Seems like the vast majority of people on here have AW, JzB, Jet Black, or Space Gray.
Very few people seem to have the other colors.
I never thought "silver" or a "variant of silver" would be as uncommon as it seems to be here.

It happens all the time (people trying to race me) but I NEVER bother. Not worth the risk in the city especially!

Congrats on your ride, I agree that SSII is not a common color at all, and it looks awesome!

Enjoy!

Thanks slammedm3! yeah, the risk is definitely way too high to justify those races. Nice vert btw

Well, I was finally able to take some pictures of the new ride. I noticed that there aren't many pictures of SSII at night so I took these pictures of my car at night (granted it is in a lit parking garage, but still)
Hope you guys like them. Oh yeah, and now this thread is no longer worthless.

Wow. The coupe is growing on me. I'm an e90 fan and SSII owner, but hanging out with the e92 coupes at the track last weekend has changed my mind. It's no longer hideous. It may even be attractive in SSII

Hey fellow SSII owners, a question for you: Are you going to replace the amber bumper reflectors???

I don't like them, but the 2 alternatives (to me) seem worse: painted ones (they look like a patch), or the only clear ones made, which sounded perfect, until I started looking into it further: they're thicker, don't fit like stock (usually at least one has gaps), and they have their brand ('DEPO', plus the part number) proudly raised at the bottom (HATED that). So reluctantly decided to leave it alone. Curious what the other 'twins' plan to do . Take care.

Nice! another SSII.. I like a bunch of other colors as well...but i'm going to have to agree with you especially since I chose this color! haha I like how the car changes color based on the lighting. The car looks especially great in bright sunlight and in the evening

I'll take that as a compliment from yet another SSII owner! Thanks!
I was actually deciding between the sedan and the coupe. The extra seat + 2 extra doors makes the sedan much more practical and the sedan does look great and aggressive as well. It was a tough decision but I ended up choosing the coupe because I liked it a bit more and I'm used to having two door cars.

I think I'm going to keep my reflectors the way they are, especially considering the options you just mentioned
