SOS Phone Error message. Help Please...

I started up my 2009 Coupe and I got the following Control error on the dash of a telephone icon with SOS and a line through it. Went into the service menu and it said to contact BMW dealer??? Is there a simple way to reset this without having to take it in. I was playing with the Bluetooth in the garage trying to pair my BB phone and was having problems. Afterwards the error message appears each time I start it. Figured I could just disconnect and reconnect the battery negative for a reset but want to check if this will actually work or not. Really hate to have to take it into the dealership for a reset if I can avoid it. Opinions/suggestions??
