Dealer Replaced Rear Tires With Wrong Size!!!

Hey guys i brought my m3 in to get the rear tires replaced told them i needed 265/35 zr19 pilot sport 2. they go ahead and order them. i picked my car up tonight and get home to find that the tires they put my car are 255/35 19 ps2.
my question is would you call the dealer and have them switched and what is the actual difference going to be (performance wise) is it really that big a deal. it will be a pain getting my car back to the dealership and leaving it there again. Thanks for your help

Have them put the right tires on. Its their screw up.

The revs per mile are 802 for the 255's and 793 for the 265's which is less than a 2% difference so within allowances but they must look puny on the rims.

There is also a half inch difference in the width of the tire which means the rim protection feature on the tire will be useless.

I'd expect you'd get less traction in a straight line and cornering as well because there isn't as much tire underneath.

Probably not enough for the average person to notice unless they are tracking the car but probably worth the PITA to get done.

I'd take it back.

ya i noticed the edge of the rim is sticking out a bit i guess a half inch of width is a good amount of surface area. they are usually really good about stuff so ill call my service guy tomorrow and see what they say. i cant imagine they will be happy being stuck with this pair of tires i have now put 30 miles on to get home

Personally, I would take the time to bring it back for the right size. While it is not a huge deal, I would want the OEM size (or maybe wider). Not sure how somebody actually put those on the car. I could see an error when ordering, but to install them without looking is another story.

yeah take them back, maybe they ordered the right one but they were sent the wrong ones. Either way switch it out so you don't have to think about it.

1.) Go to local shopping mall parking lot late at night
2.) Practice drifting - Fast and the Furious, yo
3.) Have dealer replace tires - they DID screw up, after all.

I kid. Certainly, though, I would have the dealership get the right size, and I myself would drive on the incorrect tires until the proper ones arrived. No reason you should be without your M3 due to their incompetence.

Go back to dealer and say, "What happened? When I brought my car here, it had 20" 360 Forged Wheels, and when I picked it up, it had OEM!" j/k, definitely have them put the right size on.

Don't do anything that would give the dealer a reason not to correct their mistake. In other words, no dragging, drifting, and no burn outs on your incorrect set. Take the car back to the dealer and have them put the correct size. Demand a loaner car if you have to leave your car for the day and come back later.

DEMAND FREE CAR REPLACEMENT!!!

Oops - wrong thread.

Personally, I would definitely get them replaced with the oem size ASAP. I can't imagine they'll give you any trouble unless you come in swinging.

Look at the bright side. At least they didn't replace them with 18's.

You definitely need them replaced. Narrower rears = more oversteer = traction control working overtime. And the ///M's horsepower through narrower rears = more wheelspin = quicker treadwear.

You paid dealer prices (why is another question) to have your tires replaced with OEM parts. No gray area here.

PS I can't imagine Board Sponsor Tire Rack making a silly screw-up like this!

You better not get the run around. Would they put a 335i bumper on your M3? If they did they would replace it immediately. They messed up. They put the wrong OEM part on, they should fix it. If they do not, raise major hell. And yea, burn them suckers down a little before going in. You know, for the inconvience it has caused you. :0)~
