RD Springs on a lease takeover

I have my '08 IB e90 M3 that I picked up 3 months ago on a 3yr/12k mile a year lease. I have installed aftermarket 19"s and am about to install RDSport springs. I only plan on keeping the car for another year and then I am going to put it up on lease trader. I am planning on buying a house in San Diego so I will need something a bit more economical Would aftermarket springs deter any one of you from taking over the lease? Payment is $660 a month.

I can see how some might balk at it, but there's always going to be someone who thinks its cool. I'd have no problem with it as long as it didn't look like you beat on the car. You could always keep the stock springs and put them back on in the end.

Just keep the oem ones and switch them back when you're ready to sell the car.

Yep, guess it just seems like a waste of $500 to uninstall and re-align the car before I turn it over but I definitely want it lowered between now and then!

If I was you, I'd be more concerned with keeping the miles down. If you know you're going to lease-trade the thing, miles are the MOST important criterion someone will apply to your car. If you don't have more miles per month available than when you bought it, forget about a trade. The economics just aren't there.

You don't HAVE to realign. Most of the time the car will be just fine without alignment. You should be able to get the springs switched for $200. I put KW coilovers on my car and never got an allignment. Car runs just fine.

Yea, I am aware of the mileage concern. The car should have about 850 miles per month remaining when I am done with it. I think that $660 a month is still a reasonable payment for that many miles per month. Guess we'll see

Unless you can find someone that values aftermarket upgrades, you will get a better return by removing them and reselling them on the forums.

same here.. ive ran KW suspension on hte past 3 cars.. if you don't get a alignment you basically finish your tires faster and your handling is effected a little..

before i track the e92, i'll get a alignment.

No need to realign if you're turning it in. Who cares about alignment then?

Unfortunately its true, but it wont be your problem anymore. It would just be the nice thing to do

$500 for install thats just crazy. I say install/uninstall yourself and pay for the actual alignment

The reputable shop here is SD charges $285 for the install. The alignment will most likely be around $125, so my rounding to $500 was a bit extreme

As far as turning over my lease, I am not ready yet! I have only had the car 3-1/2 months, so I want to keep it for at least another 9 months!

I know I went from the B6S4 to the M3 but I can't afford to keep that trend going AND own a house. I figure that if I keep my M3 for another year I might be able to pick up a used 335 for $25k range...depending on the long term reliability reports. At least I will enjoy it while I can have it

This is exactly why I never buy used vehicles.
