EDC - what setting are you using?

I was experimenting last weekend. I tried normal mode, for the first time, based on the suggestion that the car leverages more active control of the shocks and has a wider range of adjustment. I didn't find it to be better, the car takes longer to set and transfer weight, and sometimes it behaved it puzzling ways (especially under trail braking), which tells me the type of dynamics the car experiences flat out on a road course are outside its ability to react to. In sport mode the car was much easier to drive fast. I was looking at photos taken by the local track photo hound, and the car looks flatter in the corners with the shocks in sport. So I'll stick with sport mode until I get my traqmate installed to see the data.

Other experiences?

In canyon driving normal was perfect. On the track sport felt better, but my fastest times came in on normal. Interesting to see how others chime in.

In the dry I run the full hard setting as I found way too floaty with slower response on the comfort setting.In the wet I run on the full soft setting and it was a marked improvement over running full hard but almost too floaty even for the wet.

I am a novice driver with only 6 days on the track but I prefer the sport setting. The car sets better in the corners with less body roll and feels more stable at speed.

For track, assuming elevation changes, curbs and bumps, the Normal setting gives the best all around result, because it stays active and can actually adjust harder than the Sport setting, if called for. At the Advanced M-school last week we were told to start with Normal and experiment. When it rained, the Comfort mode gave the best result.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think that Sport may be best on a smooth autocross course. At VIR, the Normal was excellent, particularly for those using the curbs on the esses. Also, braking from 140 or 150, we got better weight transer and improved braking at the ends of fast straights. I tried the Sport a couple of laps and noticed a sizeable drop in braking performance as less security on the uphill esses, where you need all the security that you can muster.

So, it's track and weather dependent. Start with Normal and adjust to circumstances and your personal driving style.
