Drifting on Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's

This is what happens

















This is the Front Right Tire. It happened 2 weeks ago when i was drifting at a Parking Lot. Had all 4 replaced the day after. The rears were almost bald but the front tires still had plenty of tread on them.

Any ideas on what drifting tires i should order?

I was turning towards the left going in a circular pattern drifting and modulating the throttle in 2nd gear in order to control the sliding and I did this 2 times all the way around until i stopped and realized what had happened to the wheel.

twice around the lot or 2 revolutions of the car(360's)? either way that look pretty bad. wouldnt expect that with a lot more trashing.

2 revolutions in a parking lot cannot do that to a tire.

likely were you understeering alot (super high heat) or something before you got the rear to come around?


anywho, i have had good experience with:
falken st115
BFG TA/KD (not those shitty kdw's)
bridgestone s-03 (discontinued but my FAvorite)
falken fk452
Nexen (rears only, but good for beginners)
federal 595's (only 18" sizes though, 19s suck)
yokohama s.drives

bad:
yokohama es100
dunlop sp 9000

Let me get this straight . . . you're trying to induce loss of grip using expensive tires made with a compound designed to provide ultra-high levels of grip?

There are plenty of cheap tires out there that don't grip worth a darn, and they last forever. Some people refer to them as "bricks."

I've done a few donuts with my PS2s and they don't nearly look like that. But only a few since they're $350 a piece.

well, lets straighten this out.

this doesnt pertain to the OP but;
as you progress with drifting and start enterting the realm of >65mph initiations, you WANT tires with higher levels of grip to provide you with better control of the car.

+10000 I would run slicks if I could

OP If your trying to drift and doing damage to your front tires, that is called understeer... Depending on air temp, surface temp, and number of heat cycles, it's not that strange to have a tire chunk like that.

As for what tire is good for drifting: Falken Tire
