Insurance

Who are you guys using for insurance?

i've got a _very_ good multicar quote from Admiral but not used them so not sure.

have been with LV, Direct Line and SwiftCover in the past and they've all been good but prices quoted aren't that great or have stupid excesses on them.

I've just gone with Admiral, £432 fully comp, AND I live in South London - not in Peckham though Their quote was half my renewal price from Sainsburys.

In the past this has been the case in my experience, some companies are more sympathetic than others but it requires calling them up. Most folks with modded cars are driving them without the proper insurance, but I'd also argue that atleast for most cosmetic modifications (apart from lots of CF work) there isn't massive increase of cost if it needs replacing. Insurance is just freaking voodoo anyway.

Another area that really pisses me of is having to pay 400quid a year road tax for a car that is actually very friendly given its performance and you see people floating about in vans dumping two tons of crap out of their exhaust when they fart on the accelerator.

Hi Newbie here!!! Extreme caution too all with More Than policies!!!!.......If taken up via the web like I and others have done the policies ARE NOT VALID. A computer error sends out a quotation and policy docs.
I found out when I tried to put a private plate on the car and I was informed 'my policy will be cancelled in 7 days as we do not insure this type of vehicle there is a technical issue with the web.'

hmm - they won't quote me at all! Reading the thing above looks like they may not cover the car dood - might be worth giving them a call.

yah, its cause its a multicar deal, I have all the NCB on the M3. Putting the NCB on the E61 brings it down a few hundred but the M3 goes up by a grand!

More Than are fine with me. Been with them since June 2008. I have spoken to them several times including adding my private plate and trying to get my missus covered.

I compared the Meerkats and got quotes from £540 ish (Admiral) to a couple of grand.

I will be using Admiral if my current insurer won't play ball in a few weeks

They were by far the cheapest but I am with 'First Alternative' at the momnent and have been good for my last three cars and have been with them now for about 5 yrs so hopefully the M3 should not be a problem with them.

If not I will cancel and change to Admiral

I just got a quote online from More Than at £485 ... could this be right?
I tried to call them but their systems are down.

booforty did you tell them about optional extras on the car etc as the website doesn't seem to allow for this.

Did they insist on a tracker?

Thanks.

Just got my insurance through Direct Line... £2,159 per year.

Unfortunately I only have 2 years NCB as I had a company car up until 2 yrs ago.

I also have 9 points. Oops. 3 points will drop off on 6th August though.

Guys, anyone renewed their insurance in the last couple of weeks?

I have tried all the above recommended but all seem approx £1300-£1500.

Called More Than they won’t quote on M3’s –

I am 33years old 6years NCB – No previous claims live in East London.

Any help on this will be great.

Thanks

I used to live in east london, and when i moved to south west london my insurance fell by more than half!

best thing to do is use a comparison site and then ring up the ones at the top of the page! good luck!
