Low Profile Floor Jack
Hey guys,
I've decided to just go ahead and buy a low profile jack rather than fiddle with ramp extensions and what not. I can't seem to locate the required clearance. Anyone know exactly how "low" a low profile jack I need? Thanks

I have this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=40105
It fit under my lowered NSX so im sure it will work with a lowered M3. ![]()

Did your NSX have a center jack point that you could reach with this jack, or did you just grab the side rails?

Well the NSX had a center side rail point so i used that mostly.
Where you thinking about jacking the car up from?

The center jacking point near the front wheels...
This is of the E46, but I know that the center puck is there for the E92 but i had to drive up several planks of wood to get a jack underneath the body. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...jacking+points

found a picture of this jack on the 1series site. I think this is a viable solution. Anyone else have this jack or know where to get it?

This Harbor Freight jack is GREAT. It strong, lightweight, has a quick release arm, jacks up quick, and its inexpensive! I've used mine for 4 years at racing events for my z06. Lots of guys at the track use them. |

I bought this jack last weekend from Harbor Freight. First time I used it on the central jacking point I heard a "pop" and then all the hydraulic fluid spilled out on my garage floor. Took it back the next day for a refund. Maybe I got a defective one?

I just bought one of these lifts. I should have it around the end of June or so. I got it through a group-buy at www.gotogroupbuy.com.
http://www.ezcarlift.com/ I'm thinking it will be less hassle and faster than the two-garage-jacks method I use now for getting the car in the air. |

I just splurged with a 2-ton Craftsman aluminum 'racing' jack. It was on sale from $220 to $180. It's only 3-2/3" fully lowered, and raises to 19" (specs have different numbers, but I measured them). And it weighs nothing compared to my old jack. It should serve me well until I'm too freaking old to do my own maintenance
. Oh, and it looks 'kewl' . |

I suggest not using the 2-3 ton craftsmen low profile jack
It is way too thin walled and not a wide enough base. The LED base model to be precise We were using one last weekend at a track event on an E46 and the damn thing folded and warped into pieces shattering into itself. The E46 M3 is a little lighter so put that in perspective. Not good to skimp on a good low profile jack, lesson learned
