so the thing i am going to write happened twice today. i was stuck in city traffic today, and while my car was fully stop, i suddenly felt someone hit my car from the back, but in fact no one hit me. after driving while, at another stop light, car was fully stop, and it happened again. it feels like coming from the LSD. any thoughts? thank you so much!

Garage List
I've gotten that a couple of times lately also. The car is stopped and it happens as I go back to the gas pedal to start the car moving again.

Sounds like the car is engaging a gear out of nowhere for some reason. Do you see the rpms drop or go up when this happens?

funny thing about this is my mom owned a 2005 545 and it did this exact same thing. BMW never figured out what it was and eventually gave her a new car.

That is definitely from your transmission. To my knowledge there is nothing in a LSD that could create that sensation.

When you were at the full stop at the light, did you engage your clutch and put it in 1st gear?

yes. it is the DCT issue, the dealer checked it for me yesterday and said that the DCT didnt appropriately adapt to driver's profile, so they reprogrammed the computer for me. i hope it is good now.

the fact is, after they reprogrammed the computer, the transmission is smoother at a noticeable level.
