Fellow wrongly-persecuted IL residents,

It seems our Nazi state has finally come to grips with the archaic and ridiculous policy of not allowing a single percentage of tint on the front windows of automobiles.

HB3325 has proposed the following changes;

35% tint all around except on windshield or at most 50% tint on front windows if rears are tinted darker than 35%.

Call your representative and senator. Senator Link, 847.735.8181, and tell them you are in favor of them passing this bill. I did this morning and encourage all of you to do the same.

It's about time this gets changed and I know the guys up North, ie Chicago and surrounding areas have it worse than I do around STL. However, they are getting much worse lately in southern Illinois and I have even been ticketed when I was in Chicago as well.

I strongly encourage any and all who care to make their voice heard. Earlier this month the House passed this bill 117-0. That tells you something when not one single rep was against this change. Now we just have to get it through the Senate. Internet rumors suggest this bill will be passed, but it still won't hurt to voice your opinion on this topic which has given us all so much needless grief.

I got a ticket too and it made me remove it, its about time they change it

I'll get a little bit more than the minimum, how could they check what percentage you have btw?

There is a plus or minus 5% provision I believe.

Got what? What are you implying.

Yes, max all around is 35% +/- 5%. Or 50% on front and as dark as you want on back.

I don't know if anyone is following this thread but I will keep updating it. Fighting the good fight!

The bill has been amended but the provision of 35% all around still stands. It is on it's third reading in the Senate. Which is a good sign.

I'm jealous of you guys (and other states) NJ does not even allow drivers and passenger side tints. Dumb draconian state.
