What do you guys think of my new glass

I did a bit of my own stimulus to the economy last week. Finally got my hands on a 14-24 and a watch I have been searching for, for well over 10 years.

A shot from mile high this afternoon on my D700

Yeah, I really enjoy this camera. Only downside to this body and lens combo is they are so darn heavy.

What do I think? I think you SUCK!

Sweet lens, I'm envious. I do more sports shooting, so I'm planning on the 70-200 as the next lens, but this 14-24 is sweet. Since I'm shooting crop frame (D300), I could get away with the 12-24, but I'm getting NAS and thinking I don't really want glass slower than 2.8.....

70-200 is a sweet lens, definitely get that for your sports shooting. Thing about the 14-24, you are set for life. I'm sure you will transition at some point to full frame and the lens is awesome for either format.

Let us know when you get the 70-200...

And ours is beginning.

I'm dying to get that lens. I just picked up a D700 myself and can't wait to get out there to start shooting.

Nice.

I went for the straight fixed 14mm rather than the 3x as heavy 14-24 =P

I considered it... But liked the 14-24 flexibility and being I already shoot with a really heavy D700 it didn't make any difference to me.

Oh, and you must be taking part in some type of "mad math" to come to 3x as heavy. Weights are 23.6oz. (670g) for the 14mm fixed and 35.3oz. (1000g) for the 14-24mm. Just want to set the facts straight.

Weird I just read wrong I guess. I stand corrected.

I only paid $700.00 Canadian Dollars for my 14mm anyway and am going to invest in the 17-35mm, no filters is starting to piss me off lol

can't you use the gel filters?
That 17-35 looks amazing, I was seriously considering it too.

You can use gel filters, however you can't get really strong ND gel filters, also I dunno how good of quality they are... and if you think about it, if you've got a strong ND filter on there, how are you going to focus your shot?

I also want to be able to use Lee Filters and GND filters + Circular Polarizer

You should be able to use a Cokin X series system. Not sure if Lee have something for UWA's of that calibre. I know for my Sigma 12-24, I have to run a Cokin X.
