Lexus is being rolled out to Japan. They are trying to get the locals to buy into the separate luxury division.

My wife/family car is a RX330. Great car, like driving on your living room couch and just about as exciting. However, I know that it's:
Dependable
Safe
Very rarely going to see the shop

My 1996, however is:
1. Check engine light shows up from time to time (usually after it rains)
2. Every time I bring it in, there's some other part tha needs replacement
3. Still fun to drive, even after 9 years.

2006 330 on order!

Toyota is the most efficient car company on the planet. MBW and Porsche's are the most profitable per car. People will pay for the drivingg experience...

Right on MCS. I agree exactly with your input.
On another note, I also do think that the Japanese will accept converting the idea that some toyotas are now called Lexus. Although the names will stay the same in most cases, does any think that Honda and Nissan will follow suit?
