Didn't know there was a "transport mode" during delivery!

Interesting. I just got an email from my service advisor, who said he was picking up my car from the railyard, and bringing it to the dealership (HURRAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!). He said "the car's going to be in transport mode, still, so it will be limited to 3000rpm".

I wasn't aware this existed. Interesting...... and reassuring.

Protects the cars when they are on dock, loading bay, and being put on and off the boat. It's a totally smart idea

Good question. I'll see if my service advisor knows, when I go to pick up the car. I am thinking it's not possible - that once PDI is completed, transport mode is history.

I seem to recall some Maseratis, or maybe De Tomaso Panteras that were being brought in, and they managed to pick up video footage of the dock workers driving the crap out of them as they unloaded???

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh............

With my old B5S4, I can flick the cruise control switch to program the car throttle response into a valet mode. Actually it got 3 program modes (Chip by APR), 1 Bar pressure, stock mode and valet mode.

I had a colleague once that took delivery of a car, six months into the ownership her wife wonder why it seems to hesitate at times on the open road...
they found out the dealer forgot to reprogram it "off" transport mode

the car also comes with spacers in the suspension to jack the car up in the air higher so it will not scrape the bumpers while moving them up and down loading ramps during shipping.

Its funny seeing all the 4x4 m3s come in the dealership before they are PDI'd

Yah, there will be some ecu coming out where we can set it up so we have a valet ecu map, a tuned map, and a stock map i forgot what company though. it would really be nice to be able to do that. it scares me when the valet says very nice car and asks for the key...yes i know its there job but the feeling of giving the beast to a guy that obviously wants to drive the shit out of your car is unsettling to say the least

transport mode is:

- vehicle is limited to max-speed or max rpm (depending on manufacturer)
- spacers in suspension (or transport mode for air suspension)
- electric consumers are disabled (navi, radio, seat heater, remote control, interior lighting etc.)
- fluids on minimum (oil, cooling water etc.)

enable/disable only by on-board diagnostic system....

i knew about the spring spacers (honda would always forget to remove them from S2000s on delivery) but never the transport mode thing, that would be nice if it could be enabled for valets

When I picked up my car,the "transport mode" was still active. It was a pain because it was set for 4500 rpm and it stayed that way till there was about 50 kms on it.The next cold start after that it was normal operation so I could start driving the car properly. The dealer does not understand what happened to cause that, but I felt good knowing this was there for the shipping period.
