Gas Mileage?

Hey everyone,

i hope this is not a repost. if it is, my bad. One of the major questions i have is how many miles per gallon are you guys getting out of the e92. I know some will say depends on your driving etc...

i currently have a e46 that expires at the end of the month, and im giong to be buying the coupe. But shit in my car i usually hit about 5,000 rpms per shift, and my gas usually lasts me 3-5 days.

should i expect moreless that, if i intend to put an exhaust!? Cause when i get my payments a month, i dont want to be paying easily 300-400 a mo additional on gas. any suggestions??
thanks dudes.

3-5 days doesnt tell us what your gas mileage is? Ive been getting between 16-17 but that is with mostly easy driving. I could easily see more like 12-14 with a lot of spirited driving.

I get 13.5-15.5 usually... sometimes I do try and drive my car like a normal person and I can end up with around 19-20 mpg

yeah my bad chriszeh, i usually get about 10-15mpg on my e46. i'm just a little concerned cause when i went to AA to get some quotes on the exhaust, the guy didnt want to emphasize to much on the mileage. It kind of made me doubt that i'll get equal mpg if i add the exhaust.

Anyways, I'm getting about 14 mpg with some spirited driving. Usually around 18.5 if driving normally with alot of highway driving.

No need for hope to be involved if you confirm before posting. I suppose you could say a small prayer before posting too, if you are a man of faith. Probably easier to just google though.

http://www.google.com/search?q=gas+m...www.m3post.com

In general, I'd say figure about 25% worse efficiency than an E46 M3 for the same driving style and conditions, which means 25% higher fuel cost. So the only way you are going to be spending $300-$400 more per month is if you are currently spending $1200-$1600 on gas. Without doing any calculations, my guess is that would mean about 4000 miles per month. Or, in other words, you'd have to get up, start driving, continue driving until late evening, go to bed, and repeat. If that describes your daily life, then I suspect you are a drug traffic-er, so please by all means by an M3 so you can outrun the cops.

i dont know how your factoring 4000 miles a month. Figure 60 bucks per tank, 6 times a mo, gives your pretty much that amount.

How are you going to go 4000 miles on 6 tanks of gas? Are you going to mod it into a plug-in hybrid?

If you read again, I was talking how much you'd have to be driving now for the E92 to cost you $300-$400 more in gas.

Gotcha, and sorry for going off all tangential. Its just that when we see an obvious repost everyone has there way of dealing with it and I usually just try and post something funny because I like to laugh and make others laugh (good for the soul).

I get about 15mpg in my E93 for the record.

I've been getting around 12-12.2 city, 13.5 combined city/highway (maybe 70% city/30%highway). I shift at about 3500.

I get pretty much the same as C17MooseDriver. It's probably because we live on the same small island and drive on the same pothole filled roads.

I fill up almost twice a week. At 30 bucks a fillup, that equates to about $240/mo in gas. And I drive a fair amount. 8,200 miles since September.

DCT transmission here. I have attained 20 -21 mpg on highway no problem while bouncing between 6 and 7th gear and varying speed between 70-77mph. Spirited driving (rev up to 5000rpms) 0-60 and cruising a little bit of the time will mostly get you around 14-15 mpg. A mix of spirited driving on on ramps and city/hwy driving gets me around 18 mpg. This is all during the 1200 mile break-in procedure.

$30 a fillup?! This equates to 55 cents per liter (assuming 55lt fillup). Water costs more here in Greece!!

The price of premium gasoline has of course come down here but it still costs 1.18 eurocents per liter (65 euros to fillup)!
