Obama to Legalize Marijuana? what do yall think

He was recently asked if marijuana would be legalized under his presidency and he gave a short answer of no, i will not legalize weed, what do yall think about this?

i believe that the legalization of marijuana will provide an extra revenue that is needed for the boost for the economy

i am sure they will NOT make that one of the reasons to make weed legal, but nice try on our part though

I don't smoke weed, but I'm now considering it since in the past week the price for a carton of cancer sticks went up 15 bucks. If I'm getting taxed out of the ass to kill myself, I expect those that are getting high and hungry from toking to get taxed as well. At least my addiction will contribute to the chemo service revenue down the line, as opposed to boosting the Cheetos revenues.

I think they should legalize it and tax it at a similar rate to alchohol and cigs.

It would take a HUGE HUGE burden off the judicial system as well. This would leave more room for violent offenders.

Think of the econ boost to farmers alone! This recession would be cured by the Cheeto boom

Obviously they would need to come up with a DUI equivalency score that could be easily measured in the field, but that may already exist.

I would be against legalizing harder drugs, but I don't see much diffence here compared to that of alchohol use.

i dont know if yall are know the show DEA on Spike TV, i hate watching that show when they bust people that are dealing marijuana, and they are such asshole to them, i am completly for the crack down on importation of harder drugs like coke and meth, but marijuana isnt that bad, no one should have to go to jail for 15-20 years for it

Not as bad as alcohol in my opinion...

There are SO many uses with hemp including oils, fibers, textiles, food, fuel... there will be more benefits and hardly any disadvantages to the legalization with the plant. More jobs will be available, crime will diminish...

We will be doing this country a favor be legalizing marijuana.

I say make marijuana legalization a state issue w/ no Federal regulation/interference w/ the state if it is legalized there.

If a state decides to make it prohibited, then the Federal goverment can punish offenders.

Treat marijuana the same way alcohol is treated.

since they cant stop it they might as well tax, regulate and control it. at least that would minmize the criminal effects.

I agree to a certain point. The only thing Obama should do is to allow a "Home Rule" exemption for states that decriminalize adults growing it at home for your own use, and laws that decriminalize adult consumption. Just pass a law that the feds will turn over all cases of this type to local authorities, and if the locals say they won't charge, all charges are dropped.

Sales and trafficking to other states would be the only point where the Feds would get involved.

Since it is home-grown, the taxes should be exactly the same as home-brewed beer or wine. Tax the ingredients and the materials needed for production, but don't tax the product as long as it is not sold to others. (Giving it away to someone over 21 is fine, just like home-brewed beer).

This law alone would save our country billions over time in jailing and enforcement efforts, decrease the number of families broken up, and greatly stimulate the sales of Twinkies and Ho-Ho's at convenience stores....

I am not pro pot. smoked some in college- dont want my kids to do it. but we need to look at prohibition and alcohol. alcohol is a much more dangerous drug. prohibition never worked. decriminalizing it would take the profit away from criminals and allow the government to tax it. billions of dollars would stay in our country. but then whats next? cocaine?

By that same logic, we need to ban alcohol, because what's next? Pot?

And by that same logic, we need to ban caffeine, because what's next? Alcohol?

Maybe you should go back to smoking pot. It might help your thinking process.
