What do you already have?

Between those three it would be no question an R8 if you already have a DD. If not then the 997s with PDK.

despite the innovation, beauty and overall ingenuity of the r8, i really dont get its pricing, im solely in a NA respect.
the car is brilliant, but for around +150k canadian, is that what i would buy...hell no.

There's also the following to consider (not sure if the market in Asia is different than here), since the economy's hit us pretty hard. The used exotics are going for pretty significant discounts:

'06-'07 Gallardos - sub $100k
'06-'07 F430 Coupe - $135k-$145k
'06-'08 BMW M5 / M6 - $55k-$75k
'07-'08 Vantage - $80k-$90k
'07-'08 Bentley GT - sub $90k

If you're a buyer in this market, you definitely have the upper hand. I just purchased a RS for a fairly signifcant discount 3 months ago, whereas just 8 months ago, they were still demanding a premium over msrp.

You're about 15k too high on the m5/m6 prices, and about 10k too high for the Vantage.

Of course you can, but were talking about competitive prices. What I stated are the more competitive asking prices listed on the major online sites, meaning an actual purchase price is going to be even lower especially in today's market.

i dunno about these cars in asia, with duty and all that crap. a bmw or an audi is one thing, a lambo in asia is a whole other spectrum of cash, as far as my experience has told.

ie, a 323i in india, not nothing inside, just leather and wood, set me back around 100k usd
a 7 series, was around 250k
and the 5 series was in between,
and when i come to montreal, for 200k or so could have got a baby Bentley or something, it makes me sick. but those are just the laws and tariffs and duties.

...Where can you find those deals? My father and I are looking for a new car for him. We're browsing in the $120-200k category. We can't find a decent F430 for under 170, and Gallardos are still hanging around 150.

you can first look into autotrader.com - their prices are about 10% inflated, but do give you a good idea of fair market value. Check in with various dealers all across the U.S. as the exotic dealers are offering excellent deals. Also, if you find a vehicle you like, pay the extra money to have a PPI performed. Look for clutch wear, overrevs, etc. In addition, pay the extra money to have a pro-detailer or high-end paintshhop come with you to inspect the paint condition to ensure there's no bodywork that's not reported to you.

Good luck, if you need further help, do pm me.

If you want a Gallardo go 2006 or newer, they got a big power jump, they sound meaner, and I believe the interior quality was also improved.

If my intention was to spend every waking moment doing track days then I too would probably pick the F430 over the R8, but if it's only occasional track days then sorry guys but the R8 is a superior drive.

In fact a recent comparison test between the R8 5.2FSI and the LP560, they found the R8 to be far more composed near the limit and offered a more balance nature that proved the easier to drive quickly. This may led to the R8 actually being quicker on the track.

I have not had a chance to drive the R8 V10, but I have driven the LP560 and this car is a monster in a baby Lambo. The car offers an excellent value compared to the Scud. I was offered $200k for a LP whereas the Scud is still going for about $270k. I declined on the purchase since I have an order in on the V10 R8, but this thing rockets to 100 with much ease. I would say that I love the exterior of the LP more than the R8, but I spend most of my time in the inside and have to hand the honors to the R8's interior over its big brother.
