ScheerSpeed Detailed: My Own 2008 BMW M3

Well, my lease was just about up on my old '06 325i, so i decided to upgrade. I was initially looking for a 335i, which they wanted quite a sum of money for a 36 month lease... so i decided to shop around, and found myself this M3 at a dealership in Ohio (Im in Florida) through autotrader.com. and then i talked to the dealer, back and fourth for a while, and ended up getting an AMAZING deal on the car.

Anyways, this car sat on the lot since early 2008, so you can imagine how many times the dealer washed it, and the acid rain etchings, and what not...

here's the before pictures. sorry about not perfect quality, my tripod broke :/

as you can see, the car was FULL of salt from being transported from Ohio to Miami.

Now onto the wash and clay. i first soaked the car with P21s TAW and 1Z Anti-Insekt in order to dissolve the salt, and anything else that had settled onto the paint. then i washed the car with a high concentration of CG CWC.

Pictures after wash and clay:

and here's a 50/50

thats a big ball of tape!

now i decided to change the rear tail lights to the Black line tail lights that i had on my old E90 325i.

Before:

After:

much better!

and now i decided to remove the airbag warning sticker from the sun visors using 3M adhesive remover

Finished pics!

There's a LOT!

now i finished at 3AM on day 4 of the detail job. i had class the next morning at 8AM, so i took a few pictures before i headed out to class.

and i had to stop and get gas on my way to school. this car guzzles gas! im getting about 13mpg right now...

so on my way back from the university, im driving on the highway, and a dump truck pulls in front of me... needless to say, my car got FULL of dirt, dust, and cement. so i rushed home and cleaned it off before it could do anything to the paint. then i went out for another photoshoot

Much better without the airbag stickers, and hardwired V1

well, thanks for looking! i love this car!!!

Looks awesome! Black is the most gratifying car to detail without a doubt. BTW, blacklines should be a mandatory mod for all E90's! I love mine.

how did you handle getting the scratches off the black plastic pillars between the front and back side windows?

I'd like to know too. Also was the shadowline trim ... do you treat those pieces any different than you would the paint? Reason I'm wondering is my car is coming back from the body shop and I already noticed that those pieces will need some work.

excellent job, the fact your pictures turned out so well in broad daylight on a black car speaks volumes to how smooth you got that paint!

when the sun starts setting down there in southern florida, that jerez black is going to look even more dynamite! try to get some low lighting pics!

Love that Jerez black - such a nice purple haze in the sun. Great job and fantastic car. By the way, what camera were you using?
