Anyone knows how it should perform against Japanese? (aka GSX-R 1000, CBR1000RR, etc.)

BMW?s S1000RR road bike is being revealed now in undisguised, finished form at the Jerez MotoGP round.

The bike is being used as safety bike for the MotoGP race this weekend in a surprise public appearance before the official unveiling at Monza World Superbikes next weekend.

MCN has exclusively revealed the BMW S1000RR is putting out around 10bhp more than any other 1000cc rival ? 182bhp was the peak power figure on a leaked dyno graph obtained by MCN.

We know it has a four-way adjustable ABS system and race-derived traction control.

What we don?t know for certain are the full technical details of the engine which is thought to be one of the most compact four-cylinder motors ever built.

All of this will be revealed in full by BMW at the official press conference at the Monza round of the World Superbike championship on May 9.

That's like how Hyundai is saying the Genesis is faster than so-and-so. The Ducs, Aprilias, Agustas, etc. are totally different breeds.

I personally would have an 1198R... when it comes out

That's definitely a sweet looking bike... its nice that BMW finally produced a real superbike. With that said, I'd still prefer a Ducati 1098. Any idea on the price of this bike?

I love it........ however I'm cheap. Ill stick with yammi. I hope that Bmw will come up with something lesser than a liter bike. (600-750-800). But this bike look promising. I just cant afford to drop the bike during a track day since I dont ride on the street anymore. Disposable Japanese+cheap parts FTW.

WOW, talk about eating your words...

...numbers aren't everything, and the Race(s) at Monza proved that. you can have the most powerful bike, the best power-to-weight ratio, etc., but it isn't going to win you anything unless you have the handling & balance that the more researched and developed chasses have (Ducati, Suzuki, Yamaha, Aprillia, etc).

+1...BMW's S1000RR debut at Monza speaks for itself. in race #1, only one of the two BMW S1000RR's finished the race - one took 7th place, and thew other never completed a single full lap. who came in 1st and 2nd on the other hand? team Ducati Xerox and their 1098R's.

in race #2, one BMW finished 9th, while the other didn't even make it to the starting grid. one of the Ducati Xerox 1098R's on the other hand finished 2nd, despite not winning. and a 1098R from another team finished ahead of the BMW too.
