Heeeheee! For me, it's the styling and the NA flat-six. I'd rather have the NA P-Car as opposed to the turbo P-Car (..although I won't be affording either car anytime soon).

P.S. It would take equal skill to pilot either car efficiently!

Yes, both cars require great skill to be driven even at 75% of what they care capable of. Most people don't even approach that 75%. This from what I've seen at PCA track days. Sort of sad that the many times the ones that can afford these cars are ones that can hardly drive them. Anyhow, I digress. I've been fortunate to drive other people's cars at these type of events, and I will say that the GT2 requires a lot more skill to be honest. It's a beast to say the least. The GT3 is a lot more composed. Anyhow, my next car is the C2S. That's as much as I'm willing to afford. Still a blast to toss around daily and at the track.

Modern performance cars have very high limits and that can tend to make drivers overconfident. As they push closer and closer to the limit they become more and more confident in their abilities and the capabilities of the car. Eventually they will pust too hard and loose control. In many cases that is the first time they have felt the car break loose and they hve no idea what to do. I stopped participating in PCA and BMWCCA track events because I felt there were just too much traffic on the track and that too many of the drivers were inexperienced. I have seen a lot of expensive machinery get bent by inexperienced and overconfident drivers who got in over their heads.

F430 Scud > GT3RS > M3 ......I really feel like I need to throw a ZR1 in there, but then I'm reminded of the interior. I'm sure I could find some other cars out there, to throw in, but this is just a quickie.

Don't forget the Caterham R500 and the Ultima GTR720.

As I already stated in order of greatness Macca F1(LM).....430Scud....997GT3(RS)...M3 because I need the interiorspace right now....

I think there is only ONE modern dedicated trackcar atm for me and it's called FXX.

Yeah... the back seat of the 911 is doable but not for very long. I had two adults in the back before but it was not preferable. Anyways, I don't really track my 911 or M3 so I'll stay out of this main argument.

Also, I don't think it's official but I've seen pics/speculation of the Porsche GT2 RS and also Ferrari 599XX. I'm very eager to see both.

I gave some serious thought to a C4S as a DD and only car. It would not work because my rifles would not fit for a trip to the range.

I wanted to go down to one car and the M3 ended up being the best due to space as well as the fact that there is a dealership in town. Nearest Porsche dealership is 2 hours away!

The Porsche is a different sort of car than the M3. For me the M3 won as an overall package but I do realize that the C4S is faster around a track.

I do track my car as well as pick up kids from school so the back seet and trunk space is needed. ANDDDDDDDD the M3 scored 1.1 second Faster than the 911. WOWWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i won't comment about performance, but looks wise based on the vid, I have to go with the m3. The p car looks fugly. the p turbo or gt3 do looks good, but not the regular one.

maybe the M is more balance and it builds more confident than the P-car

they were trying to compare cars equipped closer in cost to each other. the strip down non-S is already more $$ than the M3 not including the cost of maintnence. AND even the S has no real back seat.

And that's always a problem for me. These are two VERY different cars in terms of driving feel/dynamics as well as space, etc. To me, any comparison is stupid and totally useless. People should decide based on what they need and like/prefer, not look at similar price ranges and then say - yeah C&D said this car was "faster" or whatever. I don't see any logic in that at all. I will always prefer ANY 911 over ANY M3. Price does not enter the equation, more OR less. I just prefer driving a 911, period. Now I'm in an M3, because I NEED 4 full seats and 4 doors. And to me the M3 is the best in that sedan category. So it depends on your situation as well.

Owned a 06 C2S and have to say that as much as I loved the car, I am glad I have the M3 as my DD. As a DD, the M3 is WAY better....better ride, interior noise, ground clearance, more trunk and back seat room, and more luxury.

I wish I could have kept the C2S as my track car but just didn't have the $. The 911s are VERY popular at my track, most of them being GT3s including GT3 Cup cars. Occasionally, I do see some Caymans and Boxters (race spec). Next most popular would be Miatas (race spec) and Z06s. But, by far, the most popular are P cars. The P cars just seem to be at home on the track and handle the abuse much better than the M...especially the brakes.

Still for a DD and occasional track day car, the M is wonderful.

unless you're racing on the track against these guys, who really cares?

I love my M3 ... no matter if its faster or slower, in a straight line or on the track...

don't get me wrong, if some clown tries me at a red light, it's on brother!!!

My only 2 "race moments" so far were against a heavily modified, supercharged vette and a non-stock looking white GT-R that lives in the neighborhood. Neither was a real "from a dig" run, however I couldn't quite keep up......

actually they were comparing DCT to the porsche twin clutch. they like the DCT better including the method of paddle shift. there is no logic to see in the fact that they timed the two on a race track and on that race track the M3 was 1.1 second per lap faster. to me that is impressive especailly since it seats four, has a real trunk and costs less.
