Lambo Jota - Spy Pics - Murcie replacement

Quote:
Lamborghini Jota spied (Murcielago replacement)
January 15, 2010 by Alborz Fallah

When spy photographers get to have their way they tend to snap away some really impressive things. This just in from a secret test track for the Volkswagen/Audi group in northern Scandinavia is the brand new Lamborghini Supercar set to replace the ageing Murcielago.

In freezing temperatures our spy photographers have caught what many think is called the Jota, according to the photographer the new supercar had began its testing this week and it was finally snapped recently.

Physically its about the same size as the Murcielago but reports say it will sport a lighter frame and have even more power from its upgraded V12 powerplant with direct injection. Some say it will have at around 700 horsepower (520kW).

Part of weight saving is achieved by swapping the Murcielagoís steel tub frame with an aluminum space frame for the Jota.

No doubt the designers have taken ideas from the Reventon and the Estoque with most body parts to be made of carbon fiber.

Given Audiís involvement with Lamborghini the Jota will definitely be all wheel drive. Some have said that it will be driven via a whole new all-wheel drive system that Swedish company Haldex is co-developing with Lamborghini.

More details as they come

Deff going in the right direction with this design. Its sort of a mix between modern Murcie and Diablo classicness. Specs sound great too.

What does everyone else think?

to me it looks like a hybrid of gallardo and murcie >_> We'll see hwat hte final look will be later down the road. To me, the best looking Lambo currently is the SV, next is the new gallardo.

The most interesting thing about this car is not the engine but the AWD system.

Look forward to the final product.

Those car lines kinda remind me of the 'ole Testarossa shape...

One thing that hasn't been mentioned was the gearbox, I almost certain we will see the first Lambo with a DCT and with that rear mounted AWD shifting power and reacting more instantly this should be one heck and exciting car.

P.S.
With Porsche now under the control of Lambo's patent company (VAG) is it possible that they have had any input into the chassis tuning.

It looks like a Countache and a Testarossa had a child...

How is this pronounced anyway? Is it the "Joe-Ta" or is Italian similar to Spanish in its pronunciation of J's. Pardon my ignorance.

I've also heard from a very reliable source that it will be some sort of hybrid/enviro-friendly car.
