Custom handgun housing for center console. (NEW MODELS PG 5)

I recently had this custom made for my armrest/center console, it's laser cut to house my glock 17. I think it turned out pretty well. I will post more pics once I install this... (already posted this in e90post, but figured I would share it in OT since there are some gun guys here)

I am interested in logistics of quickly getting that out of the center console, when needed.

Well it's not my only option.. It does have a notch cut for easy removal though.

Wouldn't it be easier to fit a 26 in the center console vs a 17?

I keep a small gun on me.. I wanted one of my full size guns in the console, it's nice to have 17 rounds ready to rock, you don't get that with the 26... And check out the pic, the glock 17 was the perfect fit for the center console, on the e90, hence the reason I chose it.

I have concerns about leaving a gun in the car unattended. Do you intend to leave the 17 in the car at all times, or just for road trip type situations? I have been giving this some thought lately (ccw class this Friday) I think the only safe places for a hot gun are in the safe or on your person, (lock box in the car for 'gun free zones')

It really just depends on the situation. I try not to make a habit of leaving valuables in my car... Good luck with your CCW class!

just curious, imagining a carjack situation, it would be difficult to access a firearm in the console (especially if you are trying to do it unnoticed), I world hate to hand a gun to a carjacker or scumbag thief.

Well I always have a gun on my person as well, the glock is just a backup gun...

I'm not shitting in the idea, just thinking worst case. It looks good, I have considered a console vault but I'm afraid I would get complacent. I am interested in a spot to secure my carry piece (in its holster) for long highway stretches if it gets uncomfortable.

If you are just wanting to take it off your hip for comfort on roadtrips, you could get a holster that clips under the steering wheel area. I have seen those sold, and they seem pretty convenient.

I've seen some cool ideas for clips, but I've got two little kids. For me a gun must be in my direct control or secured. i don't want to think about what could happen if I got sloppy.

I gotcha, that's understandable.

Those little cheapo Blackhawk holsters that you can get at Walmart have a clip on them which fits really nicely on the spot under the steering wheel or on the door storage compartment. I keep one in the glovebox so if I feel like unholstering on a drive I just put it there. Cheap, discreet, easy access.

I know a guy who works for a company that makes foam packaging components. I got him to make me this as a one off custom deal, he scanned my console into a 3d scanner and everything for a perfect fit. But I am actually in the gun business, and I might talk to him about producing more of these, in which case I might be able to get you one... But these aren't currently available from a webshop or anything.

Good news is that if fits a Glock-17 then it also work for a Glock-19,22,23,24,26,27,31,32,34,35. This might be a marketing opportunity for you.

My cc is a px4 storm compact and it can fit under the seat if I am going to a place that can't cc.

I have kept both my XDs and EMP in the flip out door pocket in my E92s, which isn't something you can just reach and get without some effort from anywhere but the drivers seat. I only do this when I'm on longer drives for comfort. It's not the perfect option, but gives the security that should I need it, it is very nearby, but it's not so accessible that you can just grab it from anywhere.

Do understand where you are coming from with the little ones around though. Good luck on the CCW class.
