2009 M3 Fog Lights

Any idea why this car does not have fog lights?

Because the left side opening is an intake for the engine and the right side opening is for the oil cooler.

BMW doesn't do foglights on any of the M cars any more.

I don't wanna sound like an asshole, but do many of the people on this forum find their cars under the Christmas tree?

I understand not everyone is an enthusiast, but still...

P.S.: I know one or two people got them as X-mas surprises, but they at least wanted them before.

I am not feeling the love here - but just for you to know - I am an enthusiast. I purchased this car at the end of the year because of the great deal - along with my 04 GT3 Porsche, 01 Carrera 4S, 00 Millennium Edition Carrera 4, 2001 BMW M5, and 1998 BMW M3. Maybe you should not be so quick to judge but use these forums to share information.

fog does enhance the looks of the e46 m3, so it would give the new m more presense on the road. i agree with the OP, they should integrate fog into the new m. I mean common, those ducts are functional but there is still space for fog. If anything, just an excuse for bmw to cut cost. i know fog light cost pretty penny. For example, honda charges 500 bucks just to add fog option to a new car.

i think fog also enhance safety somehow, otherwise it wouldn't get invented.

fogs dont belong on all cars. on some cars they look great but personaly i just dont think they suit the m3, beside the point that the open ducts serve a purpose and eliminating them could damage the car

Those are LED driving lights. They are not foglights. The foglights on the 997 turbos are the two small round lights on the side of the front bumper.

Lighten up, Argonboy. OP is just asking a simple question. I had wondered the same thing in the past as my '97 M3 did have the fogs. I knew the openings were functional, but as someone else noted, they are pretty large and one would think that BMW would have worked them in, if they desired. Perhaps it will be a part of a future facelift.

V8 Power... enjoy the ride. It seems from your garage that you certainly enjoy doing that.

If the Fog Lights if they were HID YELLOW than ok if not Halogens are not bright enough. What we need is a REAR FOG LIGHT in the US!!!! What would be nice are LED lights somewhere in front like the Audi and Porsche.

It has two. All you have to do is buy the switch for them.

Put in the LED or HID halos, and they're just as good:
