Interesting. Basic conclusion is don't waste your money on aftermarket air filters as they don't do anything.

Very interesting experiment. Glad someone took the time to do all this and thanks for posting it

I think if I do get a filter, it's definitly not on the idea of more power but longer service life.

How can any vendor give an unbiased opinion on a product that they sell to make profit on? I would not run anything, but the stock paper filter. Gains are next to nothing with the loss of filtration.

That article has been around for some time, and yes it's true.. leave it stock. (I would on an M3)

But then again on my Mini I have a K&N panel filter, gives a bit more noise but overall it doesn't really do anything.

I would think that the AA filter is the most effective. It looks like it is made by the oem manufacturer but with:
1) More surface are (more pleats)
2) Elimination of charcoal element
3) Stock filtration
4) Tight fit like stock component.
