Essen Motor Show - ALL E92

Gents,

In case you didn't see the other threads, I was at the Essen Motor Show yesterday. It is mainly an aftermarket & tuner show, so there are some amazing cars that people have spent tons of time and money on. It was a bit disappointing that Audi was the only mainstream German auto maker there (no Merc, Porsche, or BMW), but there were several M3s throughout the exhibits. Anyway, this thread is dedicated to those. Inside you'll find AC Schnitzer, Brembo, Brabham, Rieger, Akrapovic, & Inn.Vent (never heard of that one before).

This is my third apology for pic quality. I don't know how to upload them at original size (~ 10 MB), so I have to reduce them to about 800kb. The quality truly suffers. PM if you want to see any originals.

The Brabham BT 92

Honestly, I did not care for this car, but the paint is amazing. Truly beautiful. An interesting work from Brabham. Apparently it is a fraud though, and has no link to Jack Brabham or his racing family (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/30/b...-not-so-happy/). You've probably already seen pics from Mark's thread, but here are more.

X5 F15 M50d White, 20"rims, Yellow Calipers, Ceramic Pads. Better off saying what it does not have and that's a B&O Audio System, otherwise all option boxes are ticked.

Most of the cars looks like cheap tuning jobs, sorry but why would a tuningfirm rape a beautiful M like that? The white one? The lambo doors? The Brabham?
It's like taking an Armani jeans and cut it like you want it, most of the times it will fail

some of the brabham design looks pretty good... i am curious bout the wheels on that car... it looks very different from most of what i've seen before.

Brabhan himself and his son distance themselves from this company saying they´re trying to make business by using their name as their 50th Annivesary is coming up.

yeah. the rims without the carbon fiber are very concave. the CF wings that they put on there remind me of the CF blades on the Reventon rims, except the Brabham ones are curved towards the outside of the car, so there is a big space between the CF and the actual rim. That probably doesn't make much sense...they are certainly unique. But they are bolted on with a screw, and don't look too sturdy.

Brabham is not affiliated with anyone, as far as I know. Jack Brabham, the famous old racer and tuner, is apparently upset that they have used his name without his permission. It seems like an obvious rip off that is going to lead to a lawsuit, because both his name and Brabham Racing are trademarked.

Who knows. I didn't talk to any of them at the exhibit.

Oh, funny you mention that. There were plenty of those, but they weren't worth the space on my DSLR. I'm not interested in that kind of stuff, so I just kind of browsed past it.

ACS GP 3.10

The GP 3.10 holds the world record for the fastest gas powered car. Some might disagree with it's styling, but it's truly an engineering marvel and pictures do not ever do this vehicle justice. It was created to show that ACS could build a record braking vehicle using alternative fuels (LP GAS). When in Germany, ACS took me for some laps around the ring in the GP 3.10. This car is as capable as any that day at the track. We were passing GT3 RS and F430's like they were standing still. The research and development that they gained by building this vehicle helped develop the new ACS racing suspension (20 position dampening adjustable) and other products for the E92 M3. So love it or hate it, this car has helped develop better products for our cars.

Nobody is doubting that it is a fast LP Gas car, the performance and dyno numbers are impressive for an alternative fuel vehicle. My problem with the car is that it is entirely overdone. "Gas Powered" tagged all over the vehicle (why write gas powered anyway, and not LP or something like that?), the most ridiculous combination of tan suede and white on the interior, a black wheel for an i-drive knob, a martian looking shark fin/spoiler, fake side vents, and chrome everywhere. If the focus of the car was to set track records, then why all the bling?

If ACS continues down this line of styling, they are going to lose customers, because it is just plain ugly. I'm not trying to be harsh, the comments on this thread are enough proof that this car is an aesthetic disaster.

Passing GT3 RS' and F430's like they were standing still? I'd like to see video of that too.

I think it's the White mirrors that give the ACS that give it the performance figures, more so than the roof wing...

Anyway, the styling was probably some sort of tasteless attempt to attract Eastern interest.
