I'm happy with my 10-22, but them again I haven't tried the Tokina 11-16.

NIce shots there, thanks for the info. My wife is buying me a new lens for Xmas, I have D300 Nikon. I am looking for a 10-22mm or a 11-16mm lens and you have given some great info!

I was considering between the tokina 11-16 and the canon 10-22 but then I thought I made my decision on the 10-22 then I started looking at the 17-40f4L
.. I think I am going with the 10-22 since I wont be able to use the 17-40L to its full capabilities on my 1.6x 40d . I'm stoked, christmas is about to come early for me fellas ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have a quick question... Since I am planning on getting the Canon 10-22mm, I was thinking about picking up a 2nd lens as well... either the Canon 17-85mm or the 28-135mm.. Ideally the 28-135mm would be a better comb with the 10-22mm though I will still be losing some focal length.. I will be able to get some telephoto and a slight macro with it... However, if I go with the 17-85mm I will be able to have a little bit of both worlds... What do you guys think I should go with?

My preference is usually to go for more range rather than total overlap. In other words I'd rather have the 85-135mm range and lose the 22-28mm than vise-versa. As far as quality is concerned the 17-85 and 28-135 are similar (though the IS system in the 17-85 is newer and more effective). I shot with a 28-135 for about a year and found it to be quite sharp from 28 to around 100-110 or so, but the last few mm on the tele end weren't all that impressive. Still, as a not too expensive walkaround lens I'd give the 28-135 my recommendation. I gave mine to my wife after I shifted over to primes and she's still quite happy with it. Just to confuse the issue, for not much more money I've heard very good things about the 70-300 (and am now hearing pretty good things about the 55-250), but both of these will leave you with a much larger focal length gap. |

![]() ![]() This was my first shot with the new lens, the IS is pretty handy, and gotta love the extra zoom range. I think I made a good choice , now all I need to add to my lineup is the 10-22mm and I'll be set![]() |

Just another peanut in the Turd!

Save up the $$$ and get the 2.8 non floating f-stop glass. its worth the cost and patience of saving up. I do not know what I'd do without my 16-35mm 2.8L, 24-70mm f2.8L and 70-200mm f2.8ISL lenses.
