The M3 is one of my favorite cars, but when its beat, i dont have a problem pointing it out.
Fair enough. Thankyou for being civil.

A good value for such a fast car. Definitely a contender with the 335i, s4 and s5. I preferred the 350z look over this new one though (this is also the case with the g35~g37coupe).

S4 and S5 are M3 priced, at least in Canada they are.

the 370z has the worlds first rev-matching manual, which if nothing else means that they tuned this car for on-track driving, otherwise this wouldnt have been added.

More hp, less weight, i dont see why it wont tear the 335i apart on a track...
Because the previous 350z didn't either, despite being 300lbs lighter.

2008 E92 M3  [0.00]
The previous 350Z was very highly regarded as an old school rwd built for true men, but with decent handling abilities at a very competitive price. The new one has add a good dose of hp, lightened everything at the same time and probably improves the sophistication of how it handles the bumps.

The best gauge of a good handling car is to look at the overhangs and in the 370Z they are among the smallest of any car I can think of. So will it compete with the M3 (probably not) is won't have the grunt but it will easily beat the 335i in stock form.

As long as you can put up with the looks.

P.S.
Though the car it will really be running rings around is the Z4, the next Z4 will need to be a big improvement.

hmmm...

so now its a 500lbs lighter, up 300hp, and + a boatload of technical advancments, like manual rev-matching and a 50-50 distrobution in corners.

My money is on the Z. but the 335i will be alot more comfortable while it happens

would you forgive me if i said you're a fucking idiot? well i wont say it... but anyway, 335 with JB3 is not a 335. it's a 335 with JB3. let's see how it does against a turbo'd M3 or SC'd M3

could you guys please go ahead and grow out of ur little "my dick isnt THAT small" horseshit game?

The 370Z is not going to be 500lbs lighter than the 335i. The outgoing model is 200lbs lighter and is still slower than the 335i. How is that possible? The engine in the 335i is under-rated and it makes more torque across the board than the peaky Nissan engine. 50-50 weight distribution? Please. Almost every 3 series ever built has had that (or close to it) from day 1.

The 370Z might shade a bone stock 335i. Chip the 335i and it's game over for the Z . As far as the M3 - it's not even going to be close.

A. well if the old one was 200lbs lighter... then the new one will be 400-500lbs lighter...?? how is that debateable?

B. "The outgoing model is 200lbs lighter and is still slower than the 335i. How is that possible?"

well lets think about this statement...

obviously its lack of torque is the reason it was slower (in a straight line)

C. now lets imagine the new car has a 400-500lb weight advantage, more power and more torque... NOT TO MENTION THE TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR ADVANTAGE... and you have a car that will beat the 335i easily.

Now my personal advice, dont talk about mods. you compare a modded Z to a modded 335i, where the SAME amount of $$ has been spent and you'll be Sorry you showed up.

It's debatable because the 370Z is going to be 90lbs. lighter than the car it replaces. Source:

Once again, you're dropping 90lbs of the current model and gaining maybe 20hp. This brings it right in line with, or slightly ahead of the 335i. And even then, I'll only believe it once an instrumented test is done on the 370Z.

EDIT: Another tidbit from the C/D article, "Weight distribution of 54/46 front/rear has been maintained from the 350Z". Compare this to the 335i coupe's 51/49 distribution.

Well as far as the 335i arguement goes. I drive one. And it's chipped.
I get my ass handed to me by my brothers E92 M3 on a regular basis.

Good day!

the old 350z isn't faster because it is an NA engine with 300hp and 270tq. The 335i make more than 300hp stock and 300tq. Big different there.

The new 370z wont touch the 335i either in term of acceleration either

To be fair if you are talking mod, put a 5-7k turbo in the z and it will smoke your chip 335i any day and it is still cheaper than the msrp for the stock 335i.

I don't care how much lighter it is than the 335i and how much more power it has, like it's older brother the GTR, they're both ugly!

Im not ripping on the 335i, its a great car. but it wont hang with the 370z. my girlfriend has a 350, and it came in weighing at 3450lbs. The 370z mt is in the 3200lb range. And 50-50 distrobution (and i said this before) is through corners... whatever that means.

i anxiously await the inevidable comparison tests with these cars... and im going on record as saying 370z > 335i in performance, but the BMW will win due to practicality.

ps. with 332hp its actualy got 37 more hp.

It's too early to say. I wouldn't count a 335 out though.

Was that your brother getting spank by a chipped 135 in this video?
yeah and how much does the 135 weigh? How much does the M3 weigh? Plus, that M3 driver sucked big time.
I don't care about the numbers that Nissan give. Let's see it on the road. Or have one of the auto magazine take it against the 335.

Why is a chipped 335 always brought onto the discussion? And why does it always turn into M3 vs 335? Aslo, I know people say the 370Z is ugly but the 335 isnt the hottest chic on the block either. THe M3 is the shit, though!

My guess (and this is just a guess) is people who can afford an M3, will own one over a chipped 335i anyday of the week.

The 370z isnt really the most beautiful of vehicles... however it will run with cars $$'d out of its class.
