Help Me Diagnose a Problem
I recently noticed a strange noise coming from my car. It seems to be something in the front driver's side suspension. I can't hear it unless the windows are down and the radio is off. When I load the front and make a right hand turn, I hear metal pinging, like something is being stressed too much. It sounds like the rotors when they're cooling down, but it's constant during the corner. It doesn't do it under slow turns, only when I put a lot of load on that corner of the car. I'll try and get a video of it if I can. Any ideas?

If it's something constant, it's something that the dealer can diagnose. Some members have mentioned of noise coming from the suspension when making hard turns as well....

i am experiencing the same issue.. in a right hand turn under hard load it sounds almost as if something is knocking off the wheel of rotor.. (i can produce at anytime)
here is the thread where it was brought up originally with the only advice to clean the rotors and it may be caused by excess brake dust... (bullshit imo) http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146591 i havent brought my car in to have the techs play with it as other owners have.. i hate having things taken apart to look for a problem.. i would like to diagnose it first.. so please keep me, or the thread updated!!

Hmmm, it's definitely not brake dust. I washed my car yesterday and the wheels/rotors are clean. I don't think it's the brake pad shifting, either. This is definitely the noise metal makes under stress. I wasn't planning on taking it to the dealer any time soon, as it's not a persistent noise. But, if I'm not the only one experiencing it, then I might have them take a look at it.

Take it to the dealer, that's what warranty is for, they will find the problem.

My car recently developed this "left wheel, right-hand turn, under load" clicking as well (@4200 miles). Thought some others on the other thread had mentioned this occurred in older generation M3's as well?

I felt like that was the final resolution also. Brake pads or something.

I had the SAME fricken noise on my last E36 M3. Mine was left turns/right front wheel. I drove in a big circle and had my mechanic stand there and listen. We replaced the RF wheel bearing and just about everything else we could think of. We never figured it out. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
I have yet to hear this on my E90 M3, but will listen for it....

I remember reading it has something to do with a plate in/around the brakes that comes loose and rattles around. BMW knows about it, I just haven't taken my car in yet.

My car has been to the dealer THREE TIMES for the issue. They have replaced the wheel bearings twice. It's still happening and its driving me freaking NUTS! Once they replace the bearings, clean the hubs, and replace the bolts, the noise goes away for about 1000 miles or so.
I'm bringing it in AGAIN and for the FORTH time and they said they are going to replace the rotors this time. I'm really upset with BMW that they have not repurchased my car considering the insane amount of problems I've had with it.
