Somebody actually plans to submit that. The reasoning in the petition sounds juvenile at best. I would suggest coming up with a stronger argument before even thinking about going through with that.

performance argument? no bueno I doubt they want poeples cars performing any better. cali has the same law. I just dont put my plates on at all and say when i get pulled over is "I'm waiting for custom plates" but I have never been pulled over for no front plate on any of my cars (non of my cars have plates, just my dealer insterts in the back)

Seeing as the New Jersey Turnpike probably generates more revenue in speeding tickets per mile than any other road on this planet, (I had a brief conversation with a friendly State Trooper on the side of the road on Thursday night, actually ), and the fact that the front plate is the most common target for a radar/laser gun to be pointed at, I wish you the best of luck on your Quixotic journey. If the guy that started this petition wants to buy a bridge, please send him my email address.

The argument to use is the total life cycle environmental cost of front license plates:
-environmental cost of manufacturing and disposing of plates
-additional fuel consumption because of increased drag
etc., etc.

It's really all about increasing revenue these days...in CA they didn't used to care if you had the legally required front plate on or not...these days the intersection cameras operate off the front plates so they are beginning to crack down. Pretty bad when they don't even need a trooper to mail you a ticket...total revenue enhancement purposes...

Especially not written that way. It seem like it was written by a high school kid.

I dont have one on my M3 or Touareg, and have never gotten harassed... even with any of my previous cars that didn't have front plates.

i have my front plate mounted on this tow hook bracket and have the plate in my trunk. not sure if it will work but in the event i get pulled over i am just going to say i just ran my car through a carwash and forgot to re-attach it. i have 10k miles in nj and ny and no issues.
