Opinions on aftermarket Exhaust sought
Fellow M owners, I'm begining to consider afternarket exhaust systems for my M93. I have checked out the Exhaust threads here and wanted to get the feedback/opinions of those of you who have aftermarket exhaust systems or experience with them.
My goal is simply to increase the "bite" of the exhaust, to slightly increase the sound level and increase the bass a bit. Any performance increase would be great, but that is not my primary motivation (it is a vert after all, and I'm not looking to race it). What axle back kind of system(s) would you recommed for my reqirements? Thanks in advance for your opinions/feedback

If you are looking for a slight improvement over stock, I would look into the Eisenmann Sport, Remus Sport or Active Autowerke exhausts. The race versions of the Eisenmann and Remus will be too aggressive for what you are looking for but these give you a nice deeper growl without being too overbearing or loud for everyday use.

I personally think the Remus sounds great - check it out here: http://www.**********s.com/product.a...aust_E92M3_MW3
The video Clip will compare the Street Versus - the Race for you. In terms of what you are describing sounds like the street would be the way to go with. In terms of afford ability and value Remus is fantastic - TUV approved made in Austria. Active has just released their exhaust and its got a great growl check out the video on it, and some noticeable performance gains. http://www.**********s.com/product.a...M3_Exhaust_JS3 Supersprint has amazing build - made out in Italy, top of line. They have a street system: http://www.**********s.com/product.a..._BMW_E92_M3_KY and a sport system: http://www.**********s.com/product.a..._BMW_E92_M3_KY Another video for you to check out - Eisenmann made in Germany another well loved exhaust: http://www.**********s.com/product.a...MANN_E92_M3_KY Anyway let us know we can help you out with an exhaust |

Hi,
I have the meisterschaft Gt SUS muffler with section2 race version. As Nick mentioned it is the louder of the two versions they sell, but in my opinion, it isn't too intrusive. The reason i got the section 2 is because it doesn't fit with you stock pipe if you only get the muffler. The muffler was 2500. Section two was 450. But i have to say the sound is amazing. I wanted a little more loudness on the high end, but it is a nice low end rumble. Her's a video that made me get it. Enjoy! by the way, they only rev it to 5500 rpm since it's in brake in period Last edited by tszene; 10-31-2008 at 10:08 AM.. |

From an unbiased, non-vendor point of view... go to a BMW meet in SoCal and listen to other cars with after market exhaust. There are so many M3s in So Cal anyway.
I think that's the only way for you to really find out what you like. |

I completely agree. An exhaust is a very subjective mod- some people's quiet is other's aggressive etc...make sure to complete your due diligence and figure out which exhaust is best for your personal ear.

The only one I've heard in person so far is the Remus Sport. It had a very deep idle tone (more so than I was expecting), and when the car drove by you could tell it wasn't stock. However, it was not at all obnoxious.
My taste runs more to something louder, so I ordered the Race. |

Again, exhaust sounds are HIGHLY subjective. Even look at videos, it all depends on the camera type, how close you are to the car, if the car is warmed up etc...there are so many variables. Based on what I have heard in person, that is how I rank those exhausts sound wise. Like I said, hear them in person before committing.

Although I find it hard to get a complete grasp on the sound of the exhaust - I suggest checking out the links provided there are some great videos there to help out on sound.
The other thing to keep in mind - is build quality from the different manufacturers there. What type of warranty's and I personally think resell value is important as well. |
