Anyone else with a leaking E93 M3 Roof?

I like to hand wash my car 99.99% of the time, but if I'm in a huge rush after a rainy day or whatever I will run my M3 through a touchless wash (with no rails obviously). Its all good, but for some reason the roof leaks on both sides in the same spot. Here is a picture of where it leaks from it seems. I get a significant amount of water on the seats when I run through the car wash and when the car wash is on "high pressure".

Wondering if anyone else has this issue?

I can't speak for the E93 verts, but in my past experiences with hard and soft top verts, that same spots near the a pillar do leak water under high pressure wash situations. Just the nature of the beast.

Ye, I know some convertibles have roof leak issues. But I was a little surprised to see a $90 000 (CAD) BMW M3 Cab that allows water inside...and not just a drip or two. Im talking I need a towel/microfiber/chamois to wipe it off the passenger seat.

my mother's SL550 doesn't...there's no reason an M3 should either.

I thought I was the only one...I did notice the leak last time I washed the car. The leak was from both sides (the car is still new 200 miles). I will take it to the dealer .....

Mine doesn't leak, or at least didn't when went through the touchless wash. My old E46 does leak quite a bit in the same wash. I actually expected the E93 to leak also. Actually I am still thinking it might start leaking once it has more miles and everything is loosened up a bit.

BTW, what did you mean by "no rails"?

The manual recommends avoiding high pressure car washes because it will leak!

I know, real men don't read the manual

I have an E93 335i, and it does leak occasionally through the front 2 corners of the top (the a pillars). I noticed it again today, because it rained all day. It's never been anything too serious that I thought to take it into the dealer. I've driven through a LOT of rain, and I can deal with an occasional drop every few weeks. But to answer your question, I'm sure many E93 owners have that issue.

I've never had this problem. I've put it through a touchless wash about 3 times. I have it hand washed + waxed once a week. I would flip out if it leaked.

Oh wow, yours leaks when it rains even? Mine never leaks in the rain or when I wash it myself...only in a high pressure automated car wash!! I would FREAK if it leaked when it rained...thats messed up!!

Ohh...see like I said I don't have that issue when I wash it myself with a regular garden hose. I only have the leaking issue (but it is a lot of water) when I go through an automated car wash!

I've had many verts over the years and every one of them leaked a few drops if I was giving it a thorough washing. Key is to not use high pressure around the area where it tends to leak and you should be OK. Most of my previous verts didn't leak in the rain though - but were a pain in the arse when you opened the door as all the rain would run off the edge of the top and drip onto the edge of the drivers sill and seat areas. The E93 however has a rain channel on the hard top (Yay) which should prevent this.

I have not noticed this in my e93, but only high pressure I have used is by myself at a coin op type wash. My old e46m3 vert used to leak bW the top and window with the high pressure but so far the hard top is holding up well.

Same here! I've used high pressure coin wash myself..and no leak whatsoever. IT ONLY LEAKS IN AN AUTOMATED TOUCHLESS CAR WASH

I drove in the rain for 2 days with no leak. It means that only pressure cause the leak. Not a big deal

I guess it comes down to the car. My C4 Corvette rag top leaks in the same spot as your vert everytime I had wash it. It even leaks in the rain.

At the same time, my moms SLK55 has never had a leak. I'd take it back to the dealer and talk to them about it.
