iPod Business CD Player and 20 minute Shutoff

Does anyone know why this OEM radio/CD player shuts off after 20 minutes since I have installed the BMW after market adapter to the stereo? It's a 2002 330ic. This happens while driving and requires a switch on while using the iPod. Only started after I installed the iPod adapter/interface.
