6MT bogging after fast shifting
Hey all.
Not sure if this is where I should post this, but here goes. While driving hard, or somewhat hard on my M and doing fast shifts, while shifting to the next gear and flooring it, it bogs and doesn't really want to move. In order for it to not do that and go a bit, I have to only press the gas a bit, and then can floor it. Anyone else have this problem??? Know what it could be?? I'm pretty high in the RPMs after the shifts. Thanks.

so you need to "feather" the clutch instead of "dumping" it?
no i dont think that's the problem, i think when ur at high RPM u have more torque, when u shift up ur going to a RPM range with lower torque output so ur feeling it doesnt have the same push... maybe.. idk |

Best way to tell is to glace at the dash and see if the TC light comes on after shifting.

I have had the same thing happening usually at the 1st -2nd shift at max acceleration and it is the traction control cutting the power to control the wheelspin.Turn the system off and all will be good!

It's definitely the traction control system, even if the light doesn't go on it's still kicking in. You can verify this by turning DSC off and trying again. I've noticed the same thing all I have to do is turn off DSC and no problem, but it will spin the wheels.

damn it, now i know why shifting is so difficult from 1-2 at higher RPM! Will try with DSC off tomorrow too.

I always turn it off when I remember.
But I do think it is good driving practice to try and accelerate as quick as possible with it on. Try to do it without having DSC cut in at all, it's good practice on how to shift just right without spinning the tires. Anybody can smoke the tires, I find the challenge is to limit that.

Turn DSC off with caution. I have launched my car with DSC off and it pulls to the right. If you aren't careful, a quick 1-2 shift w/ DSC off could unsettle the car enough to get you in some expensive trouble. MDM is the most I will go.
I was in a buddy's STi when a C5 Z06 pulled up next to him at a stoplight. The guy wanted to race, and eventhough he was conservative on the launch, he shifted hard 1st to 2nd and almost went sideways. Just remember he had less horsepower and more tire than the M3.

wow. I am apalled that some of you have not turned DSC off. WTF? One of the beauties of this car is the locking diff, and the fact that it is very controllable when it is sideways.
I agree go with MDM if your into drag racing (not me), but you should go somewhere that is wide open, like a parking lot and pull the panties off your M3...explore the limits of this awesome machine.

I had thought it was just that I was new to a turbocharged engine and the turbo might be particularly suspect to bogging when going into a higher gear, or that the Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) might be involved But now that I think about it, it when this happens it does feel as if somthing is purposely holding back the engine. The 6MT M3 isn't broken in yet so I have no basis for opinion on it yet - can't wait though
