PG has 9500ci not the 9500xi. I had the V1 but will be installing the 9500ci soon too.

I've got the XI as well. My V1 crapped out after a few years. Figured I'd invest in the latest technology rather than spend to fix the V1. I'm glad I did. The XI uses GPS well and really does reduce false alarms - although I'm surprised how much I'm missing the V1 arrows. I'd also be interested in ideas on how to hard-wire the XI in.

I just bought and hardwired a new V1 - based on how many folks on this and other forums swear by them. The install was fairly flawless, with a minor hiccup in the grounding (no 10MM Hex bolt under the CF roof) - but a quick trip to Home Depot fixed that. Works like a charm.

Only a day under my belt with my V1 and I've already been spotting "bogeys" before they ever see me. Nice.

The V1 is an excellent radar but it is very noisy to drive with through the city. Im still going to keep the V1. I had the radar & car for two months and it probably saved me from at least 10 tickets on the highway where I usually went 30-50 over the limit. I did get caught one at 113mph but I got the tickect dissmissed. But I just want to try the 9500ci since it has more features than the V1 (radar/jammer/gps/learns false signals/lknows where speed cameras are located/ect...) I dont think Ill be dissappointed.

I was thinking of the 9500xi as well. Did you hardwire it yet? If so post some tips!

Here's a DIY for the Valentine V1. The installation instructions should be about the same...cuz you really only care about taking the car apart, putting it back together, and figuring out where to wire it in.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97545

But just in case, here's an index to MANY DIY's on the E90 forum.

What's the function of the GPS? Do you mark false bogeys and it remembers them?

Marks false bogeys; shopping malls; photo radar.

It has a built-in database of all known photo radar locations, and uses the GPS to warn you when you're approaching one. It works great for me.

That's very nice. We don't have photo radar in PA yet. Sounds like I'll have to make the switch if it comes to town. You would have to think Valentine has something cooking to compete in that area.

I hope so, all the V1 false alarms along my everyday routes are annoying. I prefer the 9500i for everyday use.

Altho I have this radar, I find it a bit useless for my needs. I dont really keep it on my windshield when driving around town, and i know where all the redlight camras are. I took a trip this weekend and i know why everyone loves the arrows. What I might do is sell this and get myself a V1 since all i will need it for is for long trips.

yea the ci has been getting good review... i am just so bummed that it costs so much... i think i'll be getting a laser interceptor or laser park pro and just sticking to my 8500 passport for radar... wished the ci was cheaper

check eBay. I got it off a vendor for 1.1k listed as open box, but was actually brand new sealed in box. I have to figure out how to install it myself to justify the cost.

How did you go through the firewall, and how did you access the rear license plate area?
