Pretty fast but still no ///M. It's a good alternative for people who are looking for a relatively cheap bmw that's fast.

No, it's a new chip from Kelleners Sport (German company). I don't think it's available yet in the U.S., but it should be soon.

Kelleners took the M3 to the cleaners...That said, the M3 had a poor launch. Wouldn't surprise me if he had traction control on. Or if it was off, and he just couldn't get on it properly...

the M3 didn't look like it got a good launch.... the one thing the turbo sixes have that the M3 doesn't have is TORQUE..... that mid range pull.....yes the M3 pulls hard, but most slightly modded 35's are putting out well over 430ftlbs....vs 295 on the M3....

Now take both to a real track with good drivers.....chances are the 135 running that much boost will quickly overheat.....

+1. If all you want is to win street drag races there are much cheaper and faster options than an e9x M3........

haha, i can't believe we are saying "old" and x35 already...

coming from a 135i, i will say it's 80% of the fun for 60% of the cost, and I think that is the best compliment I can give. If I see a 135i driver, I know that is a true german car enthusiast.

At the end of the day, I saw an opportunity to go M and I did, but I would be a very happy 23 year old in a 135i as well.

Now the 135i has character... it's a nice machine. I wouldn't mind having one myself...
I drove the 135i pretty hard and it felt the same as the 335i as far as power and handling. The main difference is the 135's interior felt much cheaper and less insulated than the 335's. Not to mention it is butt ugly. I'll pick the 335i over the 135i any day.

I have no doubt that the n54 powered 1&3 series can be modded to beat a stock M3 in acceleration. But when you add up all the mods required to make the car as fast as a M3, the resell value of the car when you decide to sell it and the possiblity of having warranty issues, the M3 start making a lot of sense. Why waste the time and money to mod a car just to worry about reliability when you can drive a damn good factory tuned track car? That's my theory. The reason I sold the 335i for the M3.

Leave it alone, guy. No one's making excuses, just pointing out observations.

This particular 135i beat the mighty M3 in a drag race. You feel better about buying a 335 now?

What's the deal with the 135i?

There are very few coupes available with a 6M. Like ummm... none in SoCal. Lots more M3's on lots.

This car would be an exceptional daily driver. If the steering's anything like the 335i though, it needs improvement.

Picking up my M3 today, I saw a black 135 on the showroom floor. Looked f'n amazing. I've never liked the way they look, but the one we saw today was hot!

mind me, but I think that a
135 driver was racing a corrupted cousin on M3
never would change a 1 over 3series

Mod any car with the right chosen parts and it will be quicker than dearer factory hot stuff, but that is missing the point of the M3. As well as the looks, on every other discipline the M3 is a much better car than either the 135i or the 335i.

Unlike the Cayman vs 997 argument where the Cayman may be cheaper but it's still the better car, when you decide to chose the 135i/335i you are only doing so only because you don't have the cash for the other.

I am all for FI for the M3. The 295lbs of torque is sorta a downer when compared to the 414hp and the resulting mpg.

i think you are on to something there. Why didn't I jump at the opportunity to get a 335i? Is it because there were too mainstream? Is it because it lacked character?

I saw the 135i, and I said "there is something special." You see an E46 M3 and its a special car. Maybe there is something there. The 135i closes the gap between production car and performance car. With a couple of mods, it can even surpass it.

If my 1 had a DCT, and the ability to change drive settings I might still be in it!

Not gonna be a sore loser and try and make excuses. The 135 driver was obviously more skilled and won it fair and square. Hopefully they'll have a guy who is more skilled driving the M next time.

I have to agree, im all for FI, with supercharging, lag isn't an issue (check the new audi supercharged v6 S4, or the amg 5.5s of the last few years)

But careful you might offend the "purists" in the crowd with such an inflammatory statement Sometimes I wonder why we still don't have carburetors instead of this radical new EFI technology!
