a group called dfw auto club has meets every saturday morning 10AM at the starbucks off park and the tollway in plano. i found these guys last week and its a nice crowd of real petrol heads. a lot of them are ///M drivers but there are some exotics that come out. i'll be there on saturday. just thought i'd drop a line on here about it. they've been looking for some e9x M3 drivers for a while. we didn't do it last weekend, but they often go for drives after coffee. so if you have some spare time saturday morning, come on out and shoot the breeze!

Heh, definitely a lot of money on show...CLK Black Series, 997TT, a rimmed up and dropped S5, a HPF E46 M3 with 600 or so whp, a modded GT40, a Dinan stroked M5 with a ton of CF.

Personally, I thought of it as more of a 'lifestyle' meet than a club meet. Meaning, I didn't really hear any conversation on the cars themselves or motorsport in general.

Guess I was a square peg...

I'm not knocking on Dallas because I used to live there and I wouldn't mind moving back, but your experience doesn't really surprise me.

I come up every month or so, and it never ceases to amaze me how many nice cars I see driving around. Here in Houston, seeing an M3 is a big deal -- up in Dallas, most people wouldn't look twice.

what makes you want to move back? weather or traffic?

i moved there for a couple years back in 2002 because i got bored with dallas, but ultimately both weather and traffic sent me back up 45.

Traffic isn't too bad for me. I'm in a very convenient, central location (I have a town home in Memorial), so it's only 5 minutes to work downtown and 10-15 minutes tops to anywhere else. West loop does suck...the traffic there is nuts.

I'm just not a big fan of the city itself (dirty, congested, ugly, etc.) or the weather. Also, my brother lives up in Dallas, so it would be nice to be closer to him to hang out. I just got married a couple months ago, so no kids any time soon, but if that does happen down the road, I can't imagine raising them in Houston.
