I lost my car?

Can I get an idea of how long a car waits to get on a ship after being produced? My car finished production almost two weeks ago. Three ships have left and my car wasn't on any of them. Is this unusual?

If I recall correctly, mine took about this long. It felt interminable. Some ships are west coast ships, some east coast ships, etc., so some of those that left may not have been destined for your port anyhow. I'd expect your car to find a ride in the next week. And if you're lucky, you'll find someone who has a lot of time on their hands to track your vessel obsessively. This was my ship and the tracking thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131771

I'm only talking about the ships headed to New York. Three ships for New York have left since my car finished production. I'm starting to wonder if something happened to the car. One more leaves tomorrow. My fingers are crossed.

I'm on the same 'boat'... as in STILL waiting for my car to be shipped. It has been two weeks since it was completed and hoping it gets underway this week, especially if it takes a month of transport through Panama plus whatever time on port and at the dealership to prep. How do you guys know about the ships that have already left? Or how to track online at AIS? I went to that site and its pretty expensive to become a member.

Mine is still at the port too. My M3 finished production and arrived at the port on 9/26 and the vessel "courage" has already sailed for NYC.

This ancient poll I started in Feb might be relevant.

I don't think its unusual since there the usual wait time was around 2 to 3 weeks.

My car finished production on 9/26 and it's still waiting for a ship.

The people at the ship yard are racing our cars around the dock and having fun...he he.

Damn, you guys in the States have to wait a long time for your cars. I managed to make a spec change to mine at the start of September, the car was then built, shipped, PDI'ed and I collected it on the last Saturday of September, 4 weeks later! Even the dealer said that it was the fastest he'd seen a car built and delivered

I must be torture knowing the car is built and waiting for it to be delivered!

Thanks.
That was super helpful. I guess I'm not far off the curve, unless I miss the next boat.

with the minimal info that the BMWusa site gives you and the BMW 800 operator gives you, how are you to find out which ship your car is on??? the dealer or how exactly?

15 days from built, train, port, and sail. The 800 number was the most reliable update for me. My SA accessed the BMW NA data and was consistently off by one step.

Also, Robert Kubica has a clause in his contract that allows him randomly select an M3 at the port storage area and thrash it about the roads of Europe. I've read he fancies white MDCs, but that's just a rumor.

He can't hurt it any worse than I will.

Even WWL is a little behind on updating info.

Turns out my car is on the Courage which left Bremerhaven on September 30th and will arrive in New York on the 13th. I should have my car next week.
