XBOX LIVE - new interface & NetFlix partnership

I cannot wait for Xbox Live's new interface, called "New Experience".

The Xbox website has lots of shots and video clips of how it'll work.

I think it's cool that it will have access to NetFlix library (for free if already subscribed to both Xbox live and NetFlix).

One of my wish list items is for Xbox to offer YouTube la Apple TV. I don;t have the Apple TV but I connect my iPhone to my plasma with a super-long cable. I enjoy watching YouTube clips with my family.

Anybody know when this new interface will be available? Some Xbox forums say mid-November, but nothing official yet.

I read in an article that it will be "pushed" automatically sometime in November. However I think there is no official announcement yet.

Kinda happy we still have time. I'm a person who frowns upon change, I find the dash board looks a little annoying to navigate.

Don't see the big deal with having lil wii characters? I guess it will be fun for the first day or two. I'm more interested in seeing how the netflix part works, I already have netflix so that could be really cool feature.

That's the same part I'm interested on - it's suppossed to have a new movie browsing feature that will be able to access a subset of NexFlix movies (about 10,000 of them).

Any idea if it's straight going to stream the movie, download it first or maybe do a bit of both? I have a dsl connection, it's semi ok for downloading but I don't know how good it would be at just streaming a movie, I can picture it pausing alot to buffer.

I have tried Xbox's current movies, and it's a little bit of both (you can start playing almost immediatly after download starts).

I would expect the new service to be the same or better.

I don't think so - I think the only three ways to watch movies on the Xbox are:

> from your Windows Media PC
> videos purchased from xbox live
> Netflix (coming up soon)

Don't need to have to have windows media center anymore to stream movies, I think just the latest version of windows media player.

Really? That's great news, as my PC runs regular Win XP.
I had thought you needed Windows Media Center or Vista.
Thanks, I'll try it.

I use TVersity to stream media files from my PC to my XBOX. It works pretty well. The hardest part is just making sure that your computer is visible to the XBOX, but there is plenty of information on how to do that with TVersity.

I am messing around with the NXE and it is a nice improvement. Installing games (I installed PGR 4) makes the 360 a lot quieter.

I haven't tried Netflix or any online features as I don't want to get banned.
